Wallpaper Engine Bug causing black background
I am not sure why, but with the recent updates I have been having an issue with Wallpaper engine on one of my computer set-up. My current set up consists of two computers linked to 1 monitor, keyboard, and mouse through a KVM Switch. Under the recent updates I have begun having issues when I use the switch to go from one computer to the other. This bug, when switching back to the computer that is running Wallpaper engine, causes Wallpaper engine to hang. Any attempts to switch the background, move to the next background, or any settings have no effect, this too includes shutting down Wallpaper engine, or even attempting to switch background through Windows it's self. No matter what until wallpaper engine is restarted, the background remains black. The only remedy I have found is to completely shut down and restart either my computer, or Wallpaper engine. I am not sure why this is happening and would be grateful for any suggestions, and/or help to solve this issue.

it never fails that I find a way to break things

Especially when Windows offers 7 different ways to enumerate monitors that all return different and sometimes contradicting results: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18022612/enumerating-monitors-on-a-computer

Looking at your log, I'm missing some output. Perhaps I got confused and pushed the update before actually writing that bit though.

Anyway it's fine, thanks for testing. I'm just hoping this new method will work on every PC. There are some others right now where Windows just mixes the monitor data in the functions I'm using, the beta also improves that for those users.

I am sorry, I have realized my mistake. I had windows on a black background and it was getting stuck on that background. When using the KVM switch, Wallpaper engine just seems to vanish from the background, or is removing it's self, I am not sure. However Wallpaper engine does not crash, and the UI remains active and usable. It does leave the stock chosen windows background chosen before putting in place Wallpaper engine in full view.

what did you do to fix this im having trouble getting anything thats animated to show up and i think this maybethe same reason

Yeah, and thank you again for all the help. I use it on both my windows 7 PC, and Windows 10 PC. If there's anything that I could help with testing with a KVM switch again or anything like that, I am sure I can find another way to break anything. Strongly possible due to the fact both my PC's are older hardware. Though it still does confuse me what might have changed in the recent updates to cause the issue.

I have found you need to be careful what operating system you are on, and what quality the animations are. If you are on Windows 7, any animation cannot go any higher than 1080p 60fps. Higher resolutions or quality are only supported on Windows 10.

Edit: Also yes, switching to the Beta branch of development for Wallpaper Engine solved the problems I was having.

I previously just enumerated the monitors by position, because the Windows APIs for this are too much of a mess (evidently...). But if I only do that, I cannot accomplish certain things or behaviors that I needed to implement eventually, like monitor profiles, so I had to go back to using these Windows functions to deal with it. I think I have found the best method now and I'm also keeping the old one in.

Ah, okay. That makes sense, and I do truely want to say thank you, this has been one of the best interractions I have had with support on a product. I appriciate all the help, hard work, and kindness in responding, even with me trying to sound somewhat intellectual and not to come off too much as a nerd/gamer. Thank you for everything
