If you can't figure out what's causing it, please share the log from that.
It could also be because you disabled it on the wallpaper, by reducing the recording volume in the settings or muting the app in the Windows mixer though.
Heres the log
- Make sure the program is not muted in Windows. That disables recording too.
- Make sure the volume of the program is also not lowered, that also just disables recording (Windows mixer).
- Make sure the audio input volume in the settings of Wallpaper Engine was not lowered.
- Make sure the audio input device is correct, normally the 'Default' option is what you want to keep.
- Make sure you didn't disable 'audio recording' in the settings of the wallpaper itself.
Try the stock 'audiophile' wallpaper for reference since you might have picked a Workshop wallpaper that just doesn't work right, but the stock 'audiophile' is fine.
But first, delete this log and restart Wallpaper Engine. Then try opening audio responsive wallpapers to make sure the log only contains recent information.
This log will show whether the issue is due to some incorrect setting somewhere or if Wallpaper Engine is unable to actually start recording for whatever reason.
I assume you are using the Logitech headset and it's connected via USB (from the log earlier), is that true?
Are its drivers definitely up to date? Does making any changes to its 7.1 surround settings help? You may have to restart everything after making changes or they won't really take any effect.
-- If yes, does disabling the 7.1 support 'fix' the audio recorder from the Logitech driver?
-- Can you connect it via the 3.5mm plugs so that the Logitech driver becomes inactive and it uses the Realtek system from your PC instead?
- Connect the headset via the 3.5mm plugs and choose Realtek as your standard audio device in Windows so that the headset is now working alone through Realtek.
- Go into Wallpaper Engine's settings and please just reset everything with the reset button, then don't change any settings for now. This will ensure that everything inside Wallpaper Engine is at least right.
- Delete the latest log file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\log.txt) and try the audiophile wallpaper again, then share that new log file if it still doesn't work.
Hopefully the device error from that is gone now, because that must be resolved, otherwise recording can't work.
So after some tinkering, I found that the problem fixes itself if you just disable and enable your primary/default device in the playback tab in Sounds (mine being the speakers connected to my headset). After I did this it seemed to work fine (at least through steam music.)
I hope this helps
