This thread is for support/bug reports for the scene.pkg unpacker I wrote that leaked out hosted on https://wetranslate.thiscould.work/scene.pkg. If you have any problems with it just report it within this thread.

Reporting problems unpacking
If you have a problem unpacking your own wallpapers, please link the workshop item and please detail the problems you are experiencing. I won't support people trying to unpack other peoples wallpapers as the tool was only written to help people retrieve projects files they might have lost.

Problems with the Site
If you have any problems with the site, just detail:

• what you were trying to do
  
• what you expected to happen
  
• what actually happened.

Hello is it possible to somehow extract the textures that I used from the wallpaper?

If you use the page to unpack the pkg file, you should be able to find any textures that are with in it in the resulting zip file.

I extracted the scene.pkg file after using the tool and made the edits to the .json. How do you turn it back into a scene.pkg file. I see no way to add it back in WE

Copy the new project folder to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\projects\myprojects", if you have Wallpaper Engine installed in another location just seach there til you find "myprojects" folder.

If you want to get the full original image of the wallpaper follow this guide:

1. Go to your steam directory on your PC, where your games are saved, usually a folder called "steamapps".
   
   
2. Go to 'workshop -> content' and find the folder containing all of your wallpapers, try finding a folder that has the same number of folders as workshop wallpapers you have installed. My folder is called '431960'.
   
   
3. Find the folder that contains the preview image of the wallpaper you wish to obtain.
   
   
4. Once you have found the preview image, open google chrome (preferably as it is easier).
   
   
5. Click on the preview image and drag it into your tabs section of chrome.
   
   
6. Once the image has been opened on chrome, right click the image and click
   'Search images with google'.
   
   
7. Here you can scroll down the menu until you find one that leads to one of the following websites (preferably):
   
   
   • Pinterest
     
   • Wallpaperflare
     
   • Deviantart
     
   • Pexels
     
   • Unsplash
     
   • Pixabay
     
   • Wallpapers.com
     
   • Freepik
   
   
8. Once there, if supported, use a download button and if you can select a resolution (preferably 2K - 4K as it will have higher quality, typically choose a resolution 1K above your monitor's resolution).
   
   
9. Boom, you should have the wallpaper! This will work for most wallpapers as not many people make their own as most steam users aren't artists... :)

problem question

1st thanks for the "Unpack scene.pkg" till i found it i never thought i would get my wallpaper builds back.

so far i have had no problems with most of my recovery but about 20 do not give me the "publish update" notice just "publish". so how do i adjust these so they will update the matching WP in my workshop
