Scene.pkg Unpacking support
About
This thread is for support/bug reports for the scene.pkg unpacker I wrote that leaked out hosted on https://wetranslate.thiscould.work/scene.pkg. If you have any problems with it just report it within this thread.

Reporting problems unpacking
If you have a problem unpacking your own wallpapers, please link the workshop item and please detail the problems you are experiencing. I won't support people trying to unpack other peoples wallpapers as the tool was only written to help people retrieve projects files they might have lost.

Problems with the Site
If you have any problems with the site, just detail:
  • what you were trying to do
  • what you expected to happen
  • what actually happened.

I can't connect to the website (it worked yesterday), but I found another way: QuickBMS[aluigi.altervista.org] and the Wallpaper Engine script[aluigi.altervista.org].

the question is how do I repack once I'm done editing if at all possible

You (re)publish it with WE

I retried and it works now. I don't know what I was doing wrong before.

You did nothing wrong .. I didn't hear back so I never updated this thread. There were updates in WE somewhere in the past that caused the code to consider the file invalid even though it wasn't

I believe the .pkg format has changed to something like version 004.

That is correct, and my checks blocked anything above 2.

so, im attempting to use this for the first time, so forgive me if im being rather dumb, but when i unpack a wallpaper, how do i load it into wallpaper engine i tried making a project file and unzipping the contents to it, as well as placing the zip itself, but neither actually worked

It has been a while for me too, but I believe that if you have a project ( empty ) and then unzip the files into that folder, you should be able to load the project with the editor.

It might help make things clearer if you try to create your own project, publish it on steam or something like that in private, then try to use the zip file from that to compared it to source project. That way you can compare the source project with what you get by extracting.

Personally never have to use the tool as I never created scene wallpapers, only made this to help some people out to recover lost files.

It's works fine, the original project file and preview image are in the workshop ID folder, so just copy those along with the extracted scene files. Into your projects folder. I used this a week ago, so I know it's still works like a charm.
