Water Waves Masks Can not be edited

I am new to the program but when i go to use water waves effects I Can paint the mask or even reset the mask for the effect it applies it to the whole image and i cant clear the mask, paint a new mask or anything. It is only with this effect ask well. so far the ones i have tested. I cant even move the mask around the image. So any help would be nice.

For the water waves mask, you first have to set the value to 0 ("black") and the clear the mask before you can paint the mask again. We'll change this behavior with the next patch.
