Wallpaper Engine

So recently, I uninstalled a program called Duet Display to reinstall a newer version because the 'Check for new version' just wasn't working.

So after I did that and Duet asked me to reboot my PC, I did and when I rebooted and log into my PC, Wallpaper Engine gave this error [i.imgur.com] and forcibly closed.

I tried to search for similar problems and found this thread but the thread didn't provide any useful answers.

I have tried updating to a newer driver and it didn't work either.

I hope someone here can help me.

Fully uninstalling Duet Display is a major pain in the ass as I have learned in the last few months from other users. If you are receiving this error, it's still active somewhere in the background and is basically telling Wallpaper Engine that there is a monitor which does not really exist and does not have any hardware acceleration capabilities.

You can use our scan tool and see if you find any active Duet Display libraries on your machine, feel free to post the log here and I can also have a look:

Usually it will show something like "ddumd32.dll" somewhere and that way you know it's still running (but there might be more indicators that I am unaware of). Generally we recommend to contact Duet Display support about this since the problem is coming from their end and it does not really make sense for us to provide support for people on how to uninstall some other software properly. Feel free to follow up on this so people can find a solution via Google later.

I have contacted Duet and this is their reply[i.imgur.com].

I am hoping that I would be able to keep Duet while having Wallpaper Engine working and running. Is there a way to possibly turn off Hardware Acceleration for Wallpaper Engine like how the Duet support suggested?

Thank you for the reply!

Hi I'm getting this error and I don't have any conflicting applications. Only the new update from earlier this morning started causing it though, it worked pefectly fine before that.

@Kevin Kat: It is not possible to disable hardware acceleration for Wallpaper Engine. Even if it was, it would be absolutely destroying your computer's performance so this is not something you want to do in the first place.

@cheatfreak47: The update from today does not touch hardware acceleration in any way. It's best if you create a new thread and include the scan tool log as described here so I can have another look:

I see. Oh well. Hopefully, the Duet people fix the issue soon.

I've uninstalled Duet normally without having to do any extra steps and everything seems to be working fine now.

This is the logs before I uninstalled: https://pastebin.com/n0QsFkH9

And

This is the logs after I uninstalled: https://pastebin.com/0bMqTyVU

Thank you for the replies.
