4k support

I can't open a 4k wallpaper from the Wallpaper engine Workshop.
I have Windows 10 and a 1920x1080 monitor.
4k wallpapers worked on my laptop.
Also, when the error occures, it says:
"Windows error occured c00d36c4 (The byte stream type of the given URL is unsupported.)."

Are you on a desktop now, can you tell me which graphics card it has?

And is it a wallpaper from Workshop or a local file? If it's from Workshop, can you share the link here?

gtx 1060 6gb gpu, i3 8100 cpu,
none of the 4k backgrounds work, here's an example:

Could you try out if this background works: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=831595366 It's only 1080p, but otherwise similar. Also, which graphics driver version do you currently have installed? You can check it in the Nvidia Control Panel under help -> system info.

Thanks. Can you try opening that 4k video in Windows Media Player (not any other) and then restart Wallpaper Engine to see if it works now? You can find the file most easily if you right click + open in explorer in the browser.

On Windows 10 + a GTX 1060 this generally shouldn't even be an issue, so I'm not sure what's wrong. It uses more or less the same video system as WMP. Could you install these additional codecs: http://steamcommunity.com/app/431960/discussions/2/1484358860951576217/ hopefully it's going to work with those then instead of the stock Windows ones.

It still won't work. I installed the filters for 86x and 64x and ran as admin. I also forced Wallpaper Engine to use DirectShow with LAV for videos by default.I don't see the icon trays tho, I tried disabling and enabling the option. Do I maybe have to restart my computer?

Restarting is fine just to make sure, yeah.

Can you send this file to [e-mail] : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\log.txt I guess LAV must be completely failing too.

Can you try to disable the option 'video hardware acceleration' in Wallpaper Engine temporarily and see if it makes any difference?

I think I have it on my hdd but i'll try to find it.
No difference by disabling the 'video hardware acceleration' thought.

Thanks. I can see that LAV is installed properly, but when it tells it to open the video there is just an 'unspecified error' (80004005) too, which again doesn't help narrowing down what's wrong...

Is Windows completely updated as well? Which OS build version does it show in the Window settings -> system -> about tab for you? I.e. 16299.309 should be the latest official Windows update.

Do you think you could do these two things and send the results via e-mail again? So far everything you mentioned is basically perfectly enough to support every single video uploaded here, so it's really stunning that it can't be loaded.
