Wallpaper Engine causes Windows Explorer to freeze and ultimately crash.
Running Wallpaper Engine in the background works, sometimes. At some point with Wallpaper Engine running in the background Windows Explorer will freeze and then crash, about 25% of the time. However, whenever I bring up the Wallpaper Engine UI Windows will freeze on the spot and either crash, or continue not working at which point I hard restart the computer. Uninstalling Wallpaper Engine or the Steam wallpapers does not do anything to solve or even delay the problem.

Then likely you have version 3.4.4. You can either update it to 3.4.5 or disable 'ransomware protection' because version 3.4.4 is very broken and causes this.
