Generic Failure

I've recently vome into contact with an error I've never seen before. I have scoured Steam discussions to try to find a solution, but I haven't found anyone covering this specific error. Whenever I log on to Wallpaper Engine, I have only around 5 wallpapers downloaded and the rest are stuck at 100% finished. I cannot select them to apply them at all. The error I get says "STEAM REPORTED AN ERROR: Generic failure. Item download failed for id 1138192348." No idea how to fix this or what it means.

Restart Steam and verify the files of Wallpaper Engine, that will also make Steam check the Workshop files. Then wait some minutes extra before launching anything. Make sure there are no pending downloads in Steam and try starting Wallpaper Engine again.

You can also try verifying the download cache in Steam's download options if it's stuck on anything.

I met this problem too.
I wanted to download a large amount of wallpaper in my another computer and most of them was failed.
I successfully solved this problem by uninstalling and re-intalling the wallpaper engine app and the steam app in sequence.
The only other problem is, when I uninstalled the steam, it deleted all my shortcuts on desktop...So if you want to try this method, you'd better creat a backup of the shortcuts.
