Looks like gamma is turned up to max
From today the two different wallpapers that I use on my two monitors look like they have had their gamma turned up to max. Nothing else on my screens are affacted by this, only wallpaper engine, however no other wallpapers from wallpaper engine that I try seems to have this problem either, it's only the two specific ones that I use.
I've tried updating graphics drivers, restarting computer, unsubscribing and resubscribing to the wallpapers and I've tried reinstalling wallpaper engine. Nothing seems to fix this problem, please help.

Try resetting the video settings in all of your graphics control panels. Intel/Nvidia etc.

I tried resetting all the settings I could find in Nvidia's control panel but it's still the same, is there a specific setting I should look for?

It should say video settings on the left, you could also try to reinstall the driver and check the clear settings checkbox.

It's a desktop and not a laptop with two graphics cards? If it's a laptop then the video settings in the Intel control panel are the issue.

It's a desktop with only one graphics card. I tried reinstalling the driver with the "clear settings" checked and it's still the same.

How does the same file look in Windows Media Player? Is it normal there?

Yes, if I open up the images either with windows or any image editing tool they look normal, it's only wallpaper engines image + effects that look like their gamma is turned way up.

Can you show me a screenshot? Which ones are you using exactly?

I think I misunderstood because there have been hundreds of people with this kind of issue description and it was always their system video settings being abnormal, but yours isn't a video issue at all if it happens with images.

This is jow it used to look: https://i.imgur.com/2Ht0Rz7.jpg
This is how it looks now: https://i.imgur.com/0SXrXuK.jpg

I'm using Audio Eclipse and canvas_circle

Both of these are web types, so I guess this is some inexplicable Chromium issue.

Do you have anything set in the CEF command line option? You could try adding this there:
--disable-d3d11

Which would cause Chromium to use another renderer and perhaps it's different there.

I didn't have anything in the CEF command line option before, adding that doesn't seem to change anything.

Well you might have luck with something from here:
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=765628
https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=687194

From what I can gather it comes from monitor color profiles and the commenters there say Google appears to have dealt with it for their next version.

So I've just been kinda hoping this would solve itself with Chromium updating or whatnot. But I'm still having this issue and I've kinda stopped using Wallpaper Engine because of it, which is a bit sad. And I still haven't experienced this problem with any other software than Wallpaper Engine. :/
Biohazard  [developer] Feb 6, 2018 @ 12:07pm
It's because of the Chrome version inside Wallpaper Engine. That specific version has this bug. But I can't just update it, because every time I pulled an update, Google managed to introduce 2 new problems for each bug they fixed, which is incredibly bad for me. This specific bug was just a case like that, I pull an update and this thing just happens because they didn't catch it before releasing that version. I would really like them to release a solid version I can adopt without fearing tons of new bugs.

Edit: Rather than breaking Wallpaper Engine more by accepting Google's updates, maybe you could try adding

--force-color-profile srgb

or

--force-color-profile generic-rgb

to the CEF command line option in Wallpaper Engine's settings. I got it from here https://peter.sh/experiments/chromium-command-line-switches/ there must be a simpler way to fix this issue, but I cannot check since I don't have it on any monitor.

Adding either of those instantly fixed the issue, thank you very much for the help. Now I can go back to using Wallpaper Engine. ^^
