Second monitor not working with it?
When I first got the program it worked perfectly on both monitors, however recently it just started failing on my second input only, the images/videos still play on my main, wallpaper engine still picks up my second monitor too, it refuses to change it, play video, or anything along those lines though, I did fix it once by rolling back my AMD drivers however it started randomly again so I updated, it fixed them, and randomly happening again.

I noticed the problem only occurs when I try to play certain videos and such for my background, but once it happens, it stays this way with no way of making it something simple.

I've tried rolling back drivers, uninstalling completely, reinstalling etc. No success. :c

Which graphics card do you have, is it a laptop or desktop?

GPU Scaling in the AMD driver options can cause issues, is that turned off?

Desktop, AMD r7 260x
I have GPU scaling disabled

Certain background still work, but others will just blackscreen, they will work at first but when I switch to check another and switch back, it refuses to load the video files

Could you try it with this video: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=831595366

It has a good compatibility, so I guess if it has the same issue it affects all video files somehow.

Edit: Could you also upload the log.txt file from the installation directory to www.pastebin.com ?

Hm yes the error code c00d36b4 is familiar...

Did you try to disable 'video audio output' in the options already?
Biohazard  [developer] Jun 22, 2017 @ 10:30am
Actually, since you said that you rolled the driver back a few times to fix it but then it came back, is it possible that Windows automatically updated the driver again which brought the error back? I.e. is the driver right now still the one you manually installed or a different version?
Kiley ♥ Jun 22, 2017 @ 11:12am
I updated the driver again after it started messing up on the older one, I keep auto updates turned off for Windows

Just disabled the video audio output option, still not working properly.

It seems to be with just MP4 files, because not even the one I put together is working right either, images still work with effects and such (defaults preinstalled still work)
But they load just fine on my first monitor, my AMD settings are the same for both monitors, both 1920x1080 res etc.

I've tried running in Windows 7 compatability mode, running directly from the exe for 64bit and 32 bit, tried reinstalling, I'm so confused

The error comes from Windows media foundation (which I use to play videos) so it will only affect videos except for webms (which are played with Chromium).

Just to make sure, are the monitors both plugged into the dedicated GPU?

The error code c00d36b4 means 'MF_E_INVALIDMEDIATYPE' which is all information I get, so it's kinda useless...

If you open the troubleshooter (do you have Windows 10? https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-troubleshoot-settings-fix-problems-windows-10-creators-update ) there is also a video option at the very bottom. Could you try running that and see if it finds anything?

I think I'm SOL xD
Both are plugged into the dedicated gpu. and the troubleshooter found no issues

I do have a few more ideas, but so far no evidence that they are actually helpful with this error code. But if you still want to try, I will list them here:

  • Try running all audio related troubleshooter options too.
  • Disable all unused audio devices in the Windows playback devices (i.e. HDMI audio devices).
  • Very elaborate: Log Media Foundation errors with https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/mf/2010/05/20/using-event-viewer-to-trace-media-foundation/ this is a huge effort, but it should log the error that causes c00d36b4 and such along with better info what is causing it. But I don't know for sure... so maybe skip this one since it may take some time to find out.

Also, did you change any of the advanced options, like 'video loading' in Wallpaper Engine? Maybe there is an issue with them.

Tried all that except for last option, something I notice, the videos don't play in Windows Media Player which generally isn't a thing because I use other things, so maybe that's the issue?

Windows Media Player also uses Media Foundation, yeah. WMP actually supports Media Foundation and the older DirectShow as a fallback (Wallpaper Engine uses only Media Foundation).

So WMP doesn't even work on the first monitor? Does WMP work with Wallpaper Engine turned off?
Kiley ♥ Jun 22, 2017 @ 12:17pm
I completely disabled WMP in "Turn Windows features On or Off" > Media Features > Disable WMP" and the wallpapers are magically playing MP4 files again... what
Biohazard  [developer] Jun 22, 2017 @ 2:40pm
And turning it back on causes problems again? Or did toggling this option somehow fix the issue for good?
