Failed preparing desktop for live wallpaper on startup
The wallpaper used to start with Windows, but now it doesn't and this message pops up. If I then select the wallpaper from "Recent Wallpapers" it will start working normally until I restart my laptop. Windows 8.1

I have the same problem with you, but my system is Windows 10, after I upgraded into windows creator update.
A service of Wallpaper Engine runs at background, and the process of it does also. But the wallpaper doesn't change, very strange.
I'd like to know what did you do before? Maybe we could have some discuss and figure it out.

I haven't changed any settings in Wallpaper engine since I bought it and it worked for weeks. There might have been an NVIDIA graphics driver update, but I'm not sure when it happened.

As I suggested Harry before, could you try it without 'high priority' auto start if you have that enabled?

While something else might have been the cause, the high priority option is a trick and not the Microsoft intended way to auto start anything.

Without the 'high priority' button Wallpaper Engine doesn't start at all, even if the box next to it is checked. Now it started working after I manually placed a shortcut of the '.exe' file in my 'startup' folder.
