There are other similar programs, im just saying you have options.

Usually an artist focuses on the art only, then the programmer makes the rest.

Joint a video game art forum, there you can post your artwork, someone is bound to help you with the programming side of things.

If you want to be both it then gets expensive, but if you are serious about your calling your parents should get this for you for Christmas or Birthday, because tools like that will be very handy in a long run.

I think you should focus on perfecting your art first, the opportunity to make a game will come later.

Because - to make a game you’ll need hundreds of sprites anyway
(Characters, enemies, items, Levels etc all has to be hand drawn first anyway which could take you months or maybe even years)

Lots of alternatives.[rpgmaker.net] Many of them free. Minimal to no real coding necessary for some of these.

If you want a free alternative, I'd suggest the Godot engine: https://godotengine.org/

Don't do everything yourself. Get a programmer and spend the time you would've taken to learn programming badly to just get better in your field.

As for getting better. Finish 1 drawing a day. Don't take more than 1 hour doing that drawing, but finish 1 drawing every day.

use size and color limitations like 2 colors black and white that will push you to make more with less improving your pixel art skills.

After some time, you could improve quickly, for example, by participating in game jams on "https://itch.io/jams". Try to participate with a group that's looking for artists. The good part of that is the limited time frame: you won't have to develop 100s of sprites, but you should have a general ideia of how to do sprites first. From time to time you see there some coders with near to no prior exp in art, and that's when you enter :D

Some suggestions to improve your craft (this is practice aimed to create game art):
1- Learn how to build characters with similar proportions in a side view (good idea for platformers) and do some different poses and animations (jumping, attacking, getting hit...);

2- Try making a simple tile set for the side view characters (use the square grid of the software and create floor tiles, items, walls... this is fundamental and it will be really fun for you. Also you need to think about the proportions with your characters);

3- Create a scene with your characters and tile set (now "tile map"). You can animate the characters and move them a little bit in the scene using a layer just for them (creating in the process an "art demo").

4- after completing the process, try making the same for top view "Hack n Slash" games (classic Zelda/Stardew Valley like view), and any other style/theme you like (for example: I'm working this month in a "Papers Please" style because it sounds fun and I really need to train portraits).

Oh and if you are looking for a free game engine that works great with pixel art, Godot is a solid option: it comes with several examples to learn and use in your projects, there are some really good tutorials on youtube/the official Godot docs, and the "animation tree" tool is fantastic for pixel art. If you learn the basics of nodes 2D + tilemaps (it's the map), simple coding for a Character (KinematicBody2D), and how to create entities you can interact with (Node2D), it's a BASIC GAME already.

If you want to make a pixel game without learning how to code, GBStudio is something that might work for you. You can get it on itchio and it's very cheap (you choose how much you pay). It's very easy to learn, and since you use 8x8 pixel tiles and a set colour palette, you can make a game very quickly.
And as I said before, you don't have to code; but it will still help you learn programming logic.

But ultimately, you need to practice, practice, practice. You're 11, and just starting out, no-one expects you to be amazing right away - but if you don't want to put any effort in, you won't see any improvement.

Good luck, have fun!

I started learning pixel art at https://lospec.com/
It's a really cool website and they also have a great Discord server.

Also here's a really helpful tutorial http://pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299

I use Aseprite, but used to use GIMP.

Good luck! :)
