This is the workaround I tried.

You can also try turning off Same in all tools in the Dynamics pop up menu.
In the window that opens, the General tab is selected by default.
Click on the Open Configuration File link.
After a file browser opens, close Aseprite.
Open the aseprite.ini in a text editor.
Search for the keyword "share_dynamics".
Change share_dynamics from true to false.
Reopen Aseprite and test the gradient dither.
