My personal recommendation for you is that you should install official signed versions only compiled by us (here on Steam or at www.aseprite.org ). Also, if you are going to start a business (use your PC for comercial purposes) you should try to avoid all possible software that might contain malware.
i found one of the free versions pre compiled and distibuted on devient art. even heart beast recomended that version. i got it and ran AVG (i do that after every download to be safe :3) and found no malware. legaly. can i use this compiled version for comercial purposes? or should i try to compile it myself/ buy it
PS: this should really be pinned in my opinion incase pthers have the same question
You are free to do whatever makes you happy. You can use whatever you like for any purpose. But, does it really matter what I say? From my point of view basically you're telling me "I'm planning to sell a product but I don't want to buy your product". So basically I'm not sure why you are asking me this.
If your question is "are you going to start legal action if I use a non-official distribution of your program?", the answer is no, I don't. Which is the same for pirated games, developers cannot start legal action for each pirated copied. The purpose of open source is to participate in the development, not to destroy the developers.
Thank u for the replys :3. i will plan on buying the program aseprite but untill then i will just use another program.i would love to support development.
No problem. I hope you can buy it soon! ^_^
I have compieled the program in the past myself and made it available online. I would link to a download but the developer made it quite clear in the past that he would delete any such links to protect people from possible malware.
Y thank u but im gona wait till my buget can fit to buy the latest version of
aseprite :3
