Aseprite
why are the .ase files so heavy?
I have a 256x256 ase project. There is no animation and its 96 megabytes. why is it so heavy?

Theres only 5 layers 2 of them being reference photos that are 1080p.

Would it be possible to have this feature as an optional toggle? Basicly like blender does it so you can either bundle all external references into the .ase or have them as linked reference.
Despite the filesize this could stay a useful feature for portable working environments and exchange.

Hi there! Yes, the idea is having an option to select if we want to reference the external file, or embed the content in the same .aseprite file.
