Is there a way to set up a reference in Aseprite?

Basically looking at an image and then turning that into a pixel drawing. In Aseprite is there an option were you could put a picture of something on screen so that you could look at it while drawing?

Go to Layer > New... > New Reference Layer from File

Can I make it so the picture is not on the canvas, like off to the side?

Never mind I kind of figured it out myself, you can open a separate tab and then drag the new tab to the side so it shows both the reference and the blank canvas with nothing underneath.
