Best sprite and canvas size?

So i just bought this and have seen some videos on it but i cant find anywhere what size you should have it for a background

it can be a small object at 80x64 and a background of 320x180

Depends what you are making entirely. 8x8-16x16 is good for beginners. 32x32-64x64 is typical for game sprites nowadays.
