Gamepass PC & Steam multiplayer issues

From my research it looks like if you play the game on GamePass for PC you CAN'T have folks playing on Steam join or even see your games.

Devs - is there any reason for this? I know there's plenty of existing crossplay games via GamePassPC and Steam already working so we know it's a possibility.
Any chance of taking a look at this to let us golf with our friends?
