Welcome screen wacked out
So, a few days ago, I've had a problem with a certain screen when the game loads. The screen with the windmill (when the music starts up) has a weird flicker to it, almost like a strobe effect. Not a big deal, but I'd like to get rid of it. Any ideas on how to make this stop?

Do you have the same problem in game / on official maps as well? I know of problems with shadows on certain older integrated graphic chips - only way to get around them is disabling shadows. Since the menu is using the game engine / settings from what I can tell... you could try disabling them.

I just did a quick test in several official games, and the same problem is occurring in the official Forest theme game itself. (I hadn't played it since I noticed the problem at startup.) Seems fine in the couple of holes I played in Oasis, Pirate, Worms. My computer is new just a couple of months ago, but nothing special. Just a mid-priced HP desktop, but I think it has an integrated graphics chip. This "shimmering," as I call it, also happens when I accidentally overlap pieces in the editor. Sometime today I'll fire up my old PC and see if it has the same issues.
Just tried the game on my old computer and it works fine. Strange.

I don't think "z-fighting" (like when two pieces overlap in the editor) is the problem here since that would most likely be the case for everyone or at least more players.

I'd say the easiest way to find the culprit would be to change all graphic settings to the bare minimum or off (like shadows) and if the flicker is gone change them back to something reasonable one by one until you find the one you GPU doesn't like.

I set the video quality level to low, and the flickering goes away. That at least makes the games playable. Thanks.

That's something at least... :)

The shader version of your GPU is probably slightly below spec, it probably wouldn't hurt to throw a cheap-ish dedicated GPU (like a 1030, around 70-80 €/USD) in there, you can only go up from what's already in there.

I had the same problem (at start and when tabbed out) and found a good & ez solution:

1. Turn on Windowed Mode, instead of Fullscreen Mode.
2. Alt+Enter to go into fullscreen.
3. Enjoy. Flicker is gone.

doomyosh- I appreciate the reply, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I have come across one more fix, and that's in the game settings- Help and Options, Shadow Distance and set it to zero. So, if someone else has this problem, maybe one of these two solutions will work. Thanks.
