Report a translation problem
You can hold Alt on launch to set the resolution.
But for those interested it was the steam overlay. Under the game properties I un-ticked "Enable steam overlay when in-game". Problem solved.
You're doing a great job, I'm patiently waiting until the day you achieve true local multi-player with controllers... the party game crown from Wii golf is yours to take! Those were the days... :)
No idea what you've tried and/or though of so I'll just ask: Did you try command line arguments? At least on Windows it pretty much always helps with this kind of problem.
Something like "-screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920" should do the trick.
