Difference between Ranger and Regular?
I know that Ranger is harder, but is there anything else? I picked Ranger Easy for my first playthrough, but what I am experiencing and what I've watched on Youtube is different. Anyone care to elaborate?

No one seems to have answered so I will put my two cents in. Just having started the game one of the characters tells you that you can live the life of the ranger. The ranger goes solo and doesn't always follow the rules. Just maybe you get less help from others, you don't pair up with other comrades. Just a thought.

I know what it does since I have both 2033 and Last light on ps3 and over 100h on each. I have also beaten both games on ranger hardcore.
Do you still want to know about it ?

Well, first of all you can carry a lot less ammo in ranger mod, half as much as normal if I am correct. Also the game is a lot harder meaning that you find a lot less ammo and other stuff lying around and on bodies. On normal difficulty you can sometimes find even around 20 ammo on one corpse, On ranger you can find a max of around 1-5 ammo. Meaning that you should use stealth every time its possible because resources are more difficult to come by. Also all damage inflicted to you is higher meaning that you have lower hp ( i do not know if you have lower hp regeneration also) and all damage inflicted to enemies is also amplified meaning you do more damage. You also find less filters and when you find a filter it gives you less gasmask usage time. On ranger your hud is very limited meaning that you do not know how much ammo you have left when not at an ammo exchange point. On ranger hardcore all hud and hints are disabled. Also, mgr (money) stashes are still at their usual places but contain less money.

All in all, when you choose ranger or ranger hardcore difficulty it is going to make your game a lot more difficult in almost every aspect. But i recommend it for seasoned players because of the immersion it provides. You can sometimes be instakilled by a shot to the head. Ranger and ranger hardcore are basically just harder difficulty levels

For those who do not have time/patience to read the above=

1. Less ammo to be found and less ammo can be carried
2. Limited hud on ranger and almost disabled hud on ranger hardcore
3. Receive more damage from enemies and do more damage to enemies
4. Filters are harder to find and last less time
5. Less money to be found
6. Ranger provides more immersive experience

PS. Sorry for long text and spelling mistakes. (English is not my native language) There might be more to it than stated here but here is all I can remember right now. Hope this helped =D, always happy to help fellow gamers.

Forgot to mention that word ranger-difficulty refers to ranger easy-/normal on my post.

so there are then 5 levels of difficulty easy normal hard then first and second level Ranger. I notice when you select your difficulty level at the beginning of the game you wear a different outfit. Thanks ImRBU
