Moral points after finishing the game?
I've finished the game yesterday with the normal ending. I now want to get the alternative ending. Is it possible to earn moral points by going back to old checkponts, so some good deeds and wait till the next savepoint is reached? How does the game store how many moral points you have earned? Any ideas? I don't want to play the game from beginning to end again (at least not so soon) but I don't want to use a savegame from another user either.

You have to start a new game in order to get the moral points required for the alternate ending. Check out this guide on the wiki for the locations of the moral points. You don't have to do all of them but the most important ones to do are whenever you have a vision and there is a Dark One you should go towards it instead of turning around and going the opposite way. I have over 350 hours into 2033 and have completed the game dozens of times. I would play the game the same way each time and I always got the "Good Ending" except for one time when I didn't go towards the Dark One in the vision at the beginning of the level "Dark Star" when you and the rangers are on a railcar heading to D6. I'm 99.99% sure that is the only thing I did differently and I did not get the "Good Ending" that time. As a matter of fact I have three Ranger Hardcore playthroughs/walkthroughs on Youtube and the first two I get the "Good Ending" but unfortunately in my Knife Only playthrough I didn't get it.

I'm sure you don't want to sit there and watch a whole playthrough of Metro 2033 let alone 2 or 3 so here is a link to a list of all moral points from the wiki -

Here is a link to my Metro 2033 videos on Youtube in case you're interested -

Thank you very much for your reply but logically thinking the amount of moral points you have earned in one game has to be stored somewhere and since you are able to replay single chapters of the game they have to be stored separately for each chapter or not? Since there are many chapter where you can receive many ponts and some where you cannot receive much points it woul be (in theory) much simpler to replay only specific parts/chapters of the game.

Great videos. I'm on chapter 3 and bookmarked your Stealth vid. I had a problem figuring out how to use stealth. The minute I stepped out into the subway, I was spotted and shot at and died. I had hesitated too long deciding what to do. Now I know what to do. Thanks

I've tried now to go back to old save games, earn moral points and wait for auto-save - this way it did not work (still the normal end). I am still asking myself how and when the game saves its moraöl points but for now it seems you really have to playthrough the game again.

Just play it again, there's lots I bet you didn't do or see on your first play through.

So, I just read a little about the moral point system. All it does is give you an alternate ending if you gain enough moral points? Is there any real benefit to putting the effort into getting enough moral points? I ask because I have been playing a couple hours and have lost pretty much every moral point so far..

Yeah, the alternate ending is worth it.

Yeah, the alternate ending is worth it.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. I have zero interest in hunting for the moral points..

Ugh. This game suddenly got a lot less appealing.

Really? Wow. The moral points aren't hard at all. Basically, don't kill anyone or be found in Black Station, Run towards the Dark One in the dream phase before Polis, give money to the poor,

Well, then how many of them do I need to have access to the good ending?

I don't think anyone knows the exact number. There's only two ending, the regular one and the good one (alternate)
Finish it with the regular one and then stock up on moral points the second playthrough to get the alternate. It's not hard at all.
Pink Mar 31, 2014 @ 9:39pm
I'm not even sure if the alternate ending is possible on the first playthrough. You've only played for an hour and have one achievement. Relax, there's time for moral points. How far in are you?

Never gonna happen.

I've already played through he first three areas and I'm pretty sure my MP total is in the negative. The wiki doesn't state how many are needed either. I could have already gimped my current playthrough, and I definitely won't be starting over.

Welp. Crap. I don't know what I'll do now.

I don't do achievements anyway, so that's inconsequential.
