Will going back to an earlier chapter by using LOAD from the main menu affect later chapters?

For example, I'm now in chapter 2. If, say, I go back to the prologue, will it affect the moral points (for the alternate ending), the number of ammo, etc. if I subsequently load the most recent chapter?

The later chapters are deleted, they are overwritten by the new playthrough you loaded from a previous chapter. If you want to play an older chapter without deleting your entire playthrough, save the files of your completed game saves in a spare folder. User\Documents\4a games\metro 2033

Just copy those files into the root save any time you want to load to another chapter from that playthrough
