Why this game is so hard on Normal mode.

Im not a beginner gamer, I have completed some Halos on legendary diffulty (if that means anything to the pc crowd lol).

Im seriosly contemplating about swallowing my pride and changing the difficulty to Easy for the first time ever, jsut to complete this darn game. Its very atmospheric, and I like the difficulty it gives me On Normal mode with the scarce ammo, but the thing is ammo is juts TOO Scarce. i would expect ammo to be this scarce on the hardest difficulty , not normal. For example i am at the area where we got past nazis on mining cart and my cart crash. I have like 2 bullets and when I do find some ammo, it eitehr turns outs to be a mere 20 bullets, and doesnt fit into any of the guns I own. Also when ever i pickup a new weapon ,put it down, then ick it up again it has less bullets than before........wtf

This game's difficulty is a bit... odd.

The lower the difficulty, the more bullet-spongy EVERY creature in the word becomes, and the less damage all attacks do.

I know it's completly counter-intiuative, but I'd recommend trying Hard instead, if not outright one of the Ranger difficulties. There's still some bits that are teeth-grinding hard, becuse that's the type of game this is, but on higher difficulties you can at least kill things without using entire magazines.

I just beat the game on Ranger hardcore mode and yah the ammo is hard to find. What i did was try and kill all humans i could with stalth kills( throwing knifes and pneumatic weapons) and save the ammo to the AK and shotgon for the mutants.

Also you could get the volt driver and use it as an alternative weapon to kill the mutants. It does a good job of that.

The volt driver in general is a great weapon on every difficulty, due to how hard it hit, how accurate it is, and how dirt cheap its ammo is.

It's only real weakness is the same as the pnumatic weapons: you need to keep the thing loaded AND pumped to achive that damage. Something near impossible in a prelonged fight.

Still, against lone foes, or that first alpha-strike, it's king.

I'd really only trade it for the Hellsing, but those reusable bolts can be a real pain to find after a heated fight so it's a trade-off.

Thanks for the replies, I think I just might try it on Hard or Ranger difficulty. I definetly need to look up a guide about where and how to get the good weapons, like the volt driver. Last question, is Metro Last Light difficulty alot better? Like enemies are bullet sponges the lower you go lol?

If you have ammo problems on normal (where the game gives you a tons of ammo, you just need to look around and search. Not to mention that you can buy at all stations), I don't think you can complete it on the hardest. It will just give you even less. Try the easy,

In this game you need to play as a scavenger always on the lookout for ammo. Check dead bodies, boxes, side rooms, and lockers. Be aware of the environment!

Oh and the bullets are garbage they are made after the war in the metro, you can use the nice bullets that are used for currency but then you won't have any money.

You've played Halo. I think I cringed so hard that my face hurt. This is supposed to be a realistic gritty survival shooter. It requires patience, discipline and thinking for yourself. As said try redux it's significantly dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience of COD/HALO fan boys.
