Can't figure out how to add a character texture in Tales of Berseria using the Special K program.
Admittedly, i'm an absolute rock-chewer when it comes to this type of stuff. I bought ToB recently on pc for the added fun of being able to add mods and some character textures I came across looked pretty appealing to me. Was trying to get a Velvet texture that I thought looked cool...

https://www.nexusmods.com/talesofberseria/mods/11?tab=description

but I've no clue how to actually inject or implement it in the game itself. I'd greatly appreciate some assistance on this issue.

actually it is described quite well how to install it.

"To install, you first need to get SKIM64. Download it from here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SpecialK_Mods/discussions/4/2741975115064708377/
Pick 'Tales of Berseria fix' and install it.
After it's done, turn on the game so that it can finish config and once that's done, go to '...\Tales of Berseria\TBFix_Res\inject' and move the .7z archive with new textures there."

Yes but I don’t know how to actually get to the \Tales of Berseria\inject’ and I don’t know where or how to move the textures correctly. That’s what I don’t get.

if I understand correctly, you first have to download SKIM64 from the Steam page, after you have started SKIM64 you should then install the Berseria Fix from there, then you should press Ctrl + Shift + Backspace (probably after starting the game) and select the options there .
Then you should go to a certain folder that was created ('... \ Tales of Berseria \ TBFix_Res \ inject'), I assume that it is either under Documents (Appdata \ Local \ BandaiNamcoEntertainment) or directly in the Steam folder in the Berseria game directory ,
and that's where the mod downloaded from nexus should go in. :bienfusurprised:

I checked the Tales of Berseria game directory in the steam folder and it wasn’t there. As for Appdata\Local\BandaiNamcoEntertainment, I can’t find that folder in Documents or in the Program Files (x86). I’m just lost man lol

hmm, i played without mods, those were just my guesses, maybe you can ask the creator of the nexus mod, or the Berseria "fix" creator, there seems to be activity too.

Yeah I sent a message to the mod creator, still waiting for a response on that. Will definitely have to consider leaving a post on the Berseria fix page.

go to the following link and download SKIM v0.7.5.15 -

https://wiki.special-k.info/en/SpecialK/Custom#install-type-skim

run SKIM64 -- the one you just downloaded from the Special K wiki link
(it will also say "Special K Install Manager - (v 0.7.5.15)" on the title bar after launching it)

then select and install Tales of Berseria "Fix"

that will install TBFix for your game. Go launch the game at least once and when you get the yellow OSD text on the top left of the screen and it tells you to press ctrl shift O, do that.

the folder you're looking for to place the texture mod(s) will be in the steam game folder under-

\steamapps\common\Tales of Berseria\TBFix_Res\inject

don't extract the .7z file that contains the mod(s) - simply place the .7z file in the inject folder

if the TBFix_Res and inject folders are not there somehow, and you're sure that you did install TBFix (you can tell if you can bring up the TBFix/SK control panel menu with ctrl shift backspace in the game, plus you'd have a d3d9.dll and tbfix.dll file among others in your steam game folder), then you can try manually creating the folders (a folder named TBFix_Res, then a sub folder named inject) and drop the .7z file of the mod in the inject folder

Following your advice and have installed the Tales of Berseria "Fix", went to launch it as you suggested but now the game doesn't launch at all. Trying to get around that before following the rest of your post.

after installing TBFix using SKIM v 0.7.5.15 from the SK wiki, do you see some d3d9.dll and tbfix.dll files your berseria steam game folder ? if it was installed correctly and the game isn't launching now, it sounds to me like something is interfering... some apps or tools known to cause issues like this would be rivatunner, nzxt cam, or anti-virus...

So I did have anti-virus and I uninstalled it but Tales of Berseria still won't start up. I uninstalled SKIM64 just to see if the game would run without it and it worked. I then reinstalled SKIM64 and ran Berseria again and it didn't work. The d3d9.dll and tbfix.dll files are in the Berseria game folder too just as you asked me. The other programs you mentioned, rivatunner, nzxt cam, I don't think I have either.

welp... it has been working for me. i also just tested completely uninstalling the game (and deleting the game folder to make sure there was nothing left over), then i reinstalled the game, launched it, and it launched fine (like it does for you without tbfix). then i re-downloaded the SKIM v0.7.5.15 from the SK wiki page i linked here earlier, ran it, selected Tales of Berseria "Fix" from the product options and saw it install successfully. then i ran the game again, and it launched just fine with TBFix - so still works for me...

a possibility is some component missing with your windows install somehow. though the ones special k or tbfix needs are normally installed for you as long as you installed using the installer (in this case the skim installer) instead of an archive. that or still some other mod, app, or tool in your pc interfering with sk/tbfix. if not your anti-virus, then something else i guess. i do believe there's something (or maybe something missing) on your end... =/
