Zestiria is still okay. It do has some of its fair share of pros and cons. Xillia is definitely better in quality, but I won't say that it is extremely good. No one's knows whether the older Tales games will get a PC, there is no announcement for a long time. We can only hope. Zestiria was the first to get pc port
Graces F had my favorite endgame dungeon out of all the Tales games. It was a bit short, but the game was pretty fun and you could really get to some sick heights of power very easily in the post game with that crafting system.
Xillia 1 was great, storywise. Xillia 2? Sucked until you got 2/3rds in and saw the big plot twist. Still worth a play, IMO.
Also, PLEASE play Tales of Symphonia. It's an AMAZING game, one of the best in the series. And it's on Steam.
And if very old games don't bother you, try playing Tales of Phantasia (the PS1 is the best version that has an official translation) as well.
Also, keep in mind that if you don't mind going the way of emulation, MANY great Tales Of games are playable on PC.
(That said, if Namco ever releases ANY of the older games on STeam, I'll throw money at the screen. :/ )
It's on my to-play list though, and it's probably the next game I'll play. ;)
so true. I think Abyss is to the Tales franchise what FF9 was to Final Fantasy.
It doesn't stick out in any one field like the other Tales games, it just emulates the most back-to-basic features of the previous games and does it in a prettier engine. It plays exactly like Symphonia, has the tried and true "You v.s. a religion" storyline, and the main character is a mostly pitiable wretch. but man, it's that gameplay I love so much with Abyss. It's throwback Tales, and the AI for it was, in my opinion, the best I've seen in a Tales game until Graces F. The AI controlled characters actually put up a decent fight for a change.
