Spell Absorber Bug? - Malak Arte Casting

I'm aware of two ways to cast spells: just pressing a button (in which the spell will instantly cast when the diamond gauge fills), or holding the button (in which when the gauge is full, the spell casts after you release the button.) Occasionally, I'll push and release a button to cast a spell, it fills the gauge, but the caster still holds on to the spell for a short while afterwards. It only releases automatically after a moment.

My hardware is not the issue, since I can replicate this both on the gamepad and keyboard. I can play as anyone with malak artes as long as Magilou is in the active party; I spam cast fine whenever she's not around. I'm willing to bet Spell Absorber is causing these occasional forced holdings of spells. It's a bit frustrating when I want to spam spell after spell, especially if it makes the difference between dealing damage or taking hits from enemies.

There may be a more specific cause to this because sometimes, I still spam-cast spells fine after a Spell Absorber occurs. Either way, this does unfortunately lead me to setting Magilou aside as standby party whenever there aren't enemies that cast spells.

I've experienced this as well on occasion while playing as Magilou (but she's the only spellcaster I play as, so I can't say if it happens with the others or not), but sadly I can't say I've figured out an in-game reason for it to be happening if there is one, since it does seem to be a bit random.

I've had it happen at times regardless of whether I've used Spell Absorber or not, though, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but it's an interesting thought, especially if it only happens for you if Magilou is in the combat party.

My observation might not entirely be accurate, since I've only recently started using casters regularly (mostly Laphicet) with Wizard's Ventite. The main reason I suspect Magilou's Spell Absorber to be the culprit is because when I got to a story point where the party was down to just Velvet, Laphicet, and Eleanor, I never had an "overheld spell" problem and spam-casted to my heart's content.
