I copy my save files to that location but that doesn't work. Maybe it is because my cpy version has all the dlc?

Yes.

After a while I wanted to play this game, and was missing the savegame due to indeed the cpy version of the game and was unable to add it in the current steam version.

I managed to copy the cpy version into my steam version.

all I had to do was create a new game and save it.
Read out the sha hash of the savegame you want to use in ToB.

open the remotecache.vdf file with a hex editor and you will read the following.

"429660".{.."Save000.tobsav"..{..."root".."0"..."size".."718088"..."localtime".."1547364729"..."time".."1547364728"..."remotetime".."1547364728"..."sha".."de66dda26670e0831113cece2095c328a731d6c0"

You can change local time also with the time you receive from the file and convert the time to seconds, and replace that where it says localtime time and remotetime.
Replace the hash from the savegame with the hash that you received from your savegame file.

This should make it work after you do it correctly.
