If that doesn't work. Maybe the save files got corrupted. In that case, move the save files out of the savedata. Just open the game normally and see if there is any save files showing up. If none, try restarting the game again.
(What I'm trying to do is to let the game use the savedata from cloud backup rather than your current save files)
How would I move the files out of the save data? They're not exactly obviously placed in the local files.
So presumably what I would need to do is copy them into the local files so that the game sees them, but after looking this up, it seems like this is where the game stores them, and doesn't store them locally, which presents a problem.
I'm going to copy them into a local folder, and then try and restart the game from the beginning.
If that doesn't work, I'm gonna try getting rid of them from this folder.
Hopefully this will work.
I'm not used to games being saved outside of the local files, since Skyrim doesn't and I don't usually need to look in the local files for games unless I'm modding them. This is, of course, an exception.
I meant to move them out into Desktop or somewhere. I'm trying to let the game download the probably uncorrupted save data from the steam cloud. If that still doesnt work, then I have no other way to help you.
I started over, skipped through the opening cutscenes and got to that first save point, and what do I find but all of my saves, right there, waiting. This feels like some creepypasta ♥♥♥♥.
I saved it in that first spot in Aball just fine, and loaded my game back where I was earlier today. Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary but when I tried to quicksave, I checked in system to make sure that my quicksave was there, and what do you know, it didn't take.
When I went back to the main menu, my NEW save game was also missing, there is still no "Load game" feature on the main menu. I could potentially live with having to start a new game and skip through the opening cutscenes in order to load my game, but not if I can't save my game.
The "Continue" option appeared today. The ability to save is still intermittent. I saved over an old file and instead of saving it simply disappeared. I alt-tabbed out for a couple minutes and then I could save again.
I guess this is just how the rest of the game is gonna be. I really hope I'm near the end but I don't think so.
Edit:
To anyone unfortunate enough to end up with this same glitch, the best thing to do is when you find out you can't save, step away from the save spot, alt-tab out of the game for a couple minutes without closing it, and then try saving your game again. If it doesn't work, just keep trying. Make sure you're not standing in the save spot.
Sometimes quick-saves just don't work. I don't know what to do about that except just have faith that the game isn't going to force you into a tough spot without giving you the option to save normally, so just save often.
If you want, add me as a friend. I can send you link to all the save files on Google Drive. You would just have to load around until you find the one about your time. I saved pretty much every save station and got 187. You could remove this bug you are experiencing by fully wiping the game and restoring with one of my saves.
Hey glad to be of service. Did you ever figure out a fix or did you end up going with my janky-ass solution?
I'm amazed this is still an issue after all this time.
