Stop it with the region locking!
I'm sick and tired of having to import games to PS4 for double the price because you refuse to include the Japanese interface. You keep "Region locking" your games to consoles and I won't support your anti consumer practices. Grow up this is a global market now.

why are you complaining about PS4 region locking which is sony's decision here? the tales of series is not made by sony.
Zeriel00 Jun 13, 2018 @ 2:39pm
I'm not complaining about Sony I'm complaining about the steam games region locking. I HAVE to import on Sony but I got the option because the PS4 is not region locked. On Steam they just remove the Japanese Interface so it's essentially "Region locked" noticed how every other language interface is there except Japanese. That's my complaint because it's scummy and there's no reason for it.

Deal with it.

Region locking is probably one of the worst things about Steam. Makes me afraid to another country. And we are thankfully living in a more and more global, multicultural world and culture, and Steam is lagging behind by locking you by region and culture and not offering more regional and cultural options.
Not including a UI, and "region locking", are two separate things, pal.

"Region locking" means, if you fly ur PC to (Japan) somewhere outside the approved zone, the game stops working. This is not the case here.

Your complaint has to do with localization difference, not "region locking". BTW, I have never seen a Japanese UI in a western-localized game before; and I have been at it for 30+ years now, so.........

Ok Ill make my game and sell world wide but just so happen to not include your language...oops I guess you won't be playing it then....I'm not region locking it just not releasing it in your country's language...completely different...

@Little Game Fairy

I agree with you except in this case is not Steam it's the publisher that wants to protect their console presence and leave the PC market hanging because Japanese think PC = Piracy. I think it's unfair and that's why it's so frustrating

LOL what??? Have you tried changing the language? Just off of the top of my head:

All Neptunia Games
Final Fantasy 7,8,10,12,15
World of Final Fantasy
All Disgaias
Neko Para
Nier Automata
Racettear
Witcher 3
Yakuza
Zone of Enders
Borderlands
Basically every Nintendo Switch Game ever
Harth Stone
Skyrim
Chantelise

And these are just the ones I've played recently. There's literally more games with Japanese Interface than without, usually used as a form of region lock because games are usually worth 60-70$+ in Japan when they're a fraction on Steam. They're fleecing gamers over there.

Interesting tangent that you strayed off to. A lot of those games aren't Japanese games western-localized (lmao Assassin's Creed, really? Ubisoft is French!) I'm aware that there are many Japanese games that do support both its original localization and English localization. My Steam library happens to be rather small, and NieR:Automata just happens to be the only one I own that supports full Japanese/English voice/interface, except... I also forgot I owned Final Fantasy XV lol. So make that two.

The remaining Japanese games I own either support only Japanese voice but lack interface (i.e. Final Fantasy XIII), or don't have an official English localization and is 100% in original interface (i.e. Touhou.)

So... you really didn't prove me anything besides me having forgotten about FFXV.

You were factually wrong and I didn't mean to offend you with facts. I was hoping you would learn something and we could talk about it but I guess this is how fragile people's egos are in the age of Twitter and social quarantine.
Ras-pica Mar 26, 2020 @ 10:10pm
Clearly, you never caught onto "western-localized," and my explanations failed to help you realize it. Or perhaps you never knew what those words meant, and pretended to never have noticed. Either way, you laughably tried to save face by accusing me of making the bigger mistake.

I don't have a Twitter, btw. Projecting your insecurities at someone else that doesn't have them won't cure anything.
