do you guys use japanese voices or english voices. are there some voices that sound much better in japanese than in english?

I use English. The English dub for this game is quite decent in my opinion, although there is one voiced role which is rather horrible although it's very minor.

Whichever is your preference ultimately though.

i have heard that magilou and velvets voices are better in japanese. yes the dub is fairly good

As a person who almost always prefers subbed anime, Tales games are always dubbed really well except for characters that are designed to be annoying like certain mascots or toddlers.

Symphonia is the only one I played with japanese voices because they used Robin's voice actor from Teen Titans and it was too iconic and unique of a voice for me to imagine someone else with it.

Berseria has exceptional voice acting in my opinion.

I played the game in English in the first playthrough for better understanding, then I switched to Japanese for NG+. I would say I like both Eng and Jpn voices because both are good in quality.

I play with the English voices, and I have no complaints aside from one minor character that you acquire mid-game (minor spoilers: mostly due to her crying in most of her scenes, I don't mind her actual spoken voice ). Some of the one-off/unimportant npcs can be cringy, but I don't really count those types of roles when judging voice acting.

The main English cast did a wonderful job, imo. I really feel like they grew into the characters, and Velvet has some fantastic performances.

English for video games, Japanese for anime.

I did play Symphonia in Japanese though because they gave Lloyd the same VA as Robin from Teen Titans and I couldn't get his voice out of my head.

both are good, the only annoying voice (english dub) imo is Laphicet and maybe Bienfu, but like i said .. is just my opinion
