CENSORED GAME : NOT BUY

I am 39 years old and every game developer keep thinking that games in the west are a thing for little kids, that our "innocent eyes" cannot see the same thing that kids in Japan see, they censored already one game scene:

You can imagine HOW MANY others thing will be also censored ? For sure a LOT of other content is cut or censored.

I was anxious to buy this game, but, no more, I do not want to buy censored game, never.

If exist this "rule" that need to be censored every Japanese game released in the west, I prefer that you guys STOP release Japanese games in the west.

There isn't a govermental law that says Namco can't have the scene like that. Its rating boards that are giving it a M rated due to such a scene when namco wants it to be T-rated.

Your partially right. There are actually certain goverment set guides on ratings, especially when pertaining to violence and crimes on children. I believe its part of the Child Protection Act (Or something like that). On the other hand, there is a Law that dictates how advertising and sales of M rated games vs T rated games are handled.. which is why Namco wants a T rated game.

These quote "Adults" comoplaining about censorship by the developer. Sorry they have to abide by Laws and Regulations to get a particular rating in the US. If you dont want censorship in your game buy the original or petition for US regulation to change.

I dont understand as to why this is so freaking hard to understand, do to the WESTERN CENSORS they had to censor it due to CENSOR rules related to acts of violence against children.

Stop blaming the developer and boycotting the game, the only thing you can do is petition a change to our current rating system.

I agree with OP. I will not buy the game unless Bamco restores the game to have its original cutscene proper.

I don't understand why you have a problem with people caring about this. Its fine that you don't care, but please don't trample on people who do care. The people complaining are trying to get the game to be as the Japanese version was, which only serves to benefit everyone. Its fine if you don't care, but please don't trample on those that do.

I think his comment is more directed, albiet badly, towards the concept that if people refuse to buy this game based on a 8 second censor, that will hurt the revenue of Bamco. Do enough damage to their revenue and we either get a reaction of no more PC ports, or simply no more localization. It's as simple as that. If they believe people will not buy their product, they won't bring it over.

That's fair, but that's why those complaining saying they won't buy the game are explaining why they aren't buying the game. Bamco isn't blind. I do not think they would ignore statements from people saying why they aren't buying the game and just take it as "people aren't buying our game because they don't care about Tales"

No, they'll take it as what it is.. "Sorry, but were not going to buy your game because in order to allow it to be played by as many people as possible like the rest of the series, you've taken time and effort to edit the content so that it can get past the censor board with a rating shared by the rest of your series. We don't like that, so please don't do it in the future, even if it means you can't release the game in the way you want."

toxic as always...i am just happy we ge another tales of pc port...i watched both sences...and really it is not a real difference...instead of getting stabbed by one sword he get's stabbed by 2 magical cones or whatever you want to call it and the original version of that scene looks way cheaper

...and the original scene gets referenced and mimicked multiple times etc., according to this thread...so what are they gonna do? Change these too?

I hate censorship too, don't get me wrong.

But skipping out on great games because of "muh principles" doesn't sound like something very clever. It's my own fault for not knowing Japanese, so I have to accept what I can get;

I love JRPGs, and sadly, most of the great ones (Valkyrie Profile, Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7 and 8, Xenogears, Xenosaga, Wild Arms games, etc) are censored in some way. Not playing them would be me punishing myself.

Well, the reason I still bought this game - as a pre-order, no less - is because I intent to play it of course, and I'm hoping more Tales games will be sold like this. Better yet, special editions in physical forms to compliment the Steam only sales.

That being said, I can and will criticise censorship in any form. Even soft censorship. I don't know a single teenager playing Tales of games, but almost all my friends who're around the same age as I am (40ish), are avid collectors. We will appreciate a Tales game with a higher than usual age rating, thank you very much. More possibilities and options in all things story telling.

I do love to watch "childrens movies", "childrens books" and what have you, but these typically have been for children from the get-go, and weren't altered to accomodate for younger audiences.

Tales of Berseria ... was fine the way it originally was. It's a bummer, but I'll enjoy playing.

Some countries like Germany still have super strict violence guidelines.

...and especially due to US-laws as has been stated in this case...gosh, people, read before making assumptions, and yes, in this case just search for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thread.

There's no proof which European ones, but no proof it was Germany, from what was stated, by the way...not that I doubt Germany could be responsible.
