I...didn't like zestiria

I just hope it isn't like zesty, my reason? idk I just missed combat arts. My favorite combat system is from tales of vesperia, tales of abyss are a close second. I don't like this combo stuff and all this directional combat where you need to have your joystick facing left to do certain attacks, bleh. I haven't played symphonia yet, mainly because I don't like the artstyle as the character models look like kids and I just don't like playing a kid character (call me crazy, but I don't like playing tiny chibis). So yeah, I kinda just hope the combat isn't like zestiria which was boring and made grinding a chore.

On a brighter note, I like the main characters design, though the tiny shorts I could do without, maybe short jeans? You know those jeans that only go to your knees or somesuch, but these tiny shorts....eh I'm not really feeling it.

Xillia 2 is good for its battle, but it is bad, especially the Main Story. (The side story are okay though) Plus, most of the dungeons are basically recycled from Xillia. Even though Zestiria is bad overall, but the plot execution in Zesty is still kind of better than Xillia 2.

Also Xillia can't have a fun nickname like Zesty.

Phantasia was better than xillia 2

phantasia was great and started it all. i would rate best ones as ToS, ToV then ToP can't speak for xillia have not played it and i am not buying a ps3 just for that.

Honestly I'd only go far back enough to play eternia, phantasia is too old for me. I was just saying that a game older than me is better than xillia.

I actually liked Zestiria's cast quite a bit. They were all based on stereotype, like this series always do, but at least, they were quite a bit more to them, and they were msotly well written. Denzel and Mikleo were alright, Lailah was quite interesting, if underused, Edna "rocks", Zaheed was really quite fun, Rose was really, really great and Sorey might be one of my favorite Tales Of main Characters behind Yuri and Cless. I love the little touch to him, his nerdy side, and jsut his optimism. The fact that he wasn't bombastic about himself, or doesn't go all mopey during the story is great.

AND THERE IS NO OTHER CHARACTER. NONE....

All joke apart, Alisha is the WORST. My god that character sucks balls. She's so aggravating, me and my friend started skippign all of the cutscens involving her.

Alisha was about the only decent character in that game but was shafted in the game because of Hideo Baba's interfering and poor writing, (allegedly he was also having an affair with Rose's japanese voice actor and fighting with alisha's voice actor which led to her being removed in the game) proof that alisha was meant to stay with you is once alisha leaves, you are still finding higher lvl gear for her from enemies, dungeons, and even the stores sell better gear for her in the game. Tales of Zestiria did so bad because of him that he was removed from anything to do with Tales of Berseria (and instead of apologizing himself and taking responsibility for his actions, he didn't appear in the recent TES event and rose's voice actor had to prostrate herself and apologize to the fans). I actually never figured out how to properly stat my weapons with all these tiny modifiers, I simply just put in what I thought would help me swing harder.

Sorey is jesus with 0 character development. Luke at least had character growth untill he becaem jesus. Yuri had a rough path and changees. Legendia guy matured from overprotective brother into independant person with its own goals and friends. Sorey stayed jesus.
Lailah is one joke character with her stupid comic scenes while she attempts to hide truth.
Edna just spouts perver or cynical joke which is fine for sone secondary old geezer character but not for the part of the main cast. Jokes got old very fast.
Alisha was female jesus. Alisha nad Sorey combo was the worst part of the game due to being so predictable and boring.
Rose was fine and Zaheed was only sane character that called Sorey on his jesus ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Sorey is static, certainly, his worldview really doesn't change and it is never potently challenged, but the brunt of that is not even his fault: Zestiria's arrangement is so black and white that any decent person with Seraphim perception, some battle training, and a lot of guts could be a successful Shepard, as the different temple guardians demonstrate. He takes every shot fired at him in stride, because he's a clueless mountain boy who needs all the help he can get... he just never really needs any of it.

I think Lailah gets the praise she does for being a fresh take on certain Tales tropes: by virtue of her age and particular occupation she's happy and spontaneous by choice, not by blissful ignorance, and has the courtesy to mention she can't give spoilers just after Sorey pulls the sword. And no matter how silly self-deprecating hot potato is, its better than hearing "Oh, nothing." half a dozen times and waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Very sad that VA for Lailah died. She actually had a good voice(actor) and did a lot of good job in other anime and games.
and yes black and white filters just made Zesteria story for degenetates.
Even old symphonia had layered story with shifting goals, priorities and villians. In the end half of the enemies could be considered heroes on their own who worked to get what they needed trough cruel means.
And main villian was just a loyla boy who wanted to ressurect women he adored. If he would be a main character I suspect many would actyally root for him despite his crimes.

And Vesperia? Yuri is a vigilante, killer who kills based on his personal hatered and disbelife in law. Who acidently was right while generic tales main character who acts just as secondarycharacter in Vesperia Shining knight himself is wrong. He talks about how killing is bad and how there are other means and in the end Yuri murdering criminals who stand above law is the better thing to do.

Zesteria primitive story isnt even cute after this. Its worse than Any tales for 20 years. It has no redeeming value.

Yeah Legendia was pretty horrible dear god lol xD Zestiria is bad, even worse than xilia 2 but legendia takes the cake.
