About the lenght and controlling the skits in the game
Hello there,

First of all haven't played a Tales series for a long time since the Legendia.I have just one question I'd like to ask.

I really love those skit conservation between characters and it brings out the flavor the game so much. When I was playing the Legendia the skit section of the game was progressing according to your command. What I'm trying to say is that when a character speaking you hit to "x" button for next text to appear but it seems it doesnt like that in this game. I mean it is really hard for me to read all the conservation and swallow em' up. Some of characters are speaking so fast and I can't follow their conservation when the they are speaking automatically in these skit videos.

So will there be an option so that I could get a hold of the conservation in those skits in the game so that I'd enjoy their interraction even more? If the skits are automated and it will flow without your control then it will be really hard for me to follow up with their conservation so since as I said I'm not really fast reader. It will make pretty bad impact for me.

I hope there will be option so that it will be up to your control or make it automatic according to your taste. Even PS2 Tales game had that option so I hope developers put an option on the skits so that you can control the conservation of the characters.

PS: I searched through every option but couldnt find any option so that we could control the skits with our own commands. This is really frustrating ;<

if you push select it will pause during a skit, not sure if the menu will show up over the text though

This is what I'm talking about actually. You need to push a button to make the characters proceed to talk even further. This is kind of vexing because as I said it's hard to keep a track of characters when they are talking really fast and you miss a lot in that way if you are slow reader like me. I wonder why did they decided to remove this feature where you can control the conversation of the characters in skits manually.

yeah I knew what you meant, I think they have it that way so that the conversations seem more natural, although you can pause it but I think the pause menu might show up over the dialogue (not sure)

Thank you for your answer. I'll give it a try once I'm back from work but having to pause the game everytime you want to read text seems or at least feels a bit troublesome and roundabout way to overcome of this problem ;< I wonder am I the only one who feels that way though or am I being so picky here but this is how I grew up playing j-rpg's like that. Having it in automatic pilot mode kinda kills the mood for me since I just want to swallow up what's characters are speaking amongst themselves thoroughly.

I see what you're saying, personally I'm fine with skits because I think the point of them is to be more casual conversations while the actual story outside skits usually lets you progress through text whenever you'd like

Well I guess I'll live with it by pausing the game when there are long ass texts in the skits just like these ones or when the characters tend to speak rather fast so thanks for the tips mate http://imgur.com/a/arT64

Skits are fully voiced, so you don't necessarily need to read along with them.

I'm assuming he's using the japanese voices

Yes I usually prefer to play j-rpgs in their own original voice. Playing the games in their original dubbing is my prefence after all such as playing the Metro 2033 series in its Russian dub or an English game in their original voice etc...

However and then again wish there was an option that would let you made the conversation of characters automated or control the flow of what they are speaking in the options menu.

Quite a lot of the NIS-published games have a feature where you can turn the auto mode (continues when the character's audio finishes) on or off by pressing a button during the dialogue.
I often wonder why a niche developer/publisher fairly consistently includes this, and yet bigger titles don't, as it's really just a convenience option for the player and it doesn't really impact the game or the dialogues themselves.

Similarly, those game have an auto-skip that fast forwards the dialogues at a speed you can't even read without having to press start and select skip at every scene change, ideal for those on new game+ and those that just don't care about story at all.

I guess I'm fortunate enough to read at a speed that's faster than the character's audio, but it would be nice if those things were implemented more widely as convenience tools.
