EX dungeon is more or less made to extend the game for people playing new game plus (it is the way to unlock the more powerful form of the final story boss for example, and that boss needs level 100+ to have a decent shot at it).
My advice would be to get as much grade as you can, master equipments you already started in the process, and go for NG+, taking options like 2x exp (700 grade) to make it easier the next time around to gain those extra levels that let you have an easier time (more stats, but also easier stuns/status effects while having less chances of being affected by them).
If you are instead stuck in the small room where you first find a tutorial for those malevolence spots then your just not good enough for that part yet.
The last dungeon's mobs drop fairly consistently the tier above topaz, so it should be possible to get your team geared in +4 or +5 of it, boosting not only your stats but also the first "unlocked" boost of the gear, which makes a significant difference as you get higher level.
I mean that every level you give to your gear upgrades that first unlock by one rank, so the 50hp on side step becomes 500 at +10/named, and every piece of gear for that slot have the same, so it's usually really worth it to do even +1 or +2 on your highest gear.
*i also wen't in with lvl65 party. now i'm on lvl 80+ its easy on intense but still way too slow on chaos
