Martiel Artes, Hidden Artes, Mystic Artes, Break Soul...
Best way to use Artes?

More questions...kinda:

Martial is combo.

Hidden is..? AOE?

Mystic..?

Break soul...sometimes using hidden artes with break soul ON eat my enemies, other it does "blue" attacks. Also, sometimes I can make combos with the Demon Arm, some others it disappears after 1 strike only, regardless of SP.

I need more explanations! T.T

I personally found this way to be the best:

Elemental -> Stun -> Elemental -> Stun
Elemental - Stun -> Stun - Elemental

Though I am also curious what works best, there are 2 rules, 1st has to be an elemental in order to use a weakness combo and the more marital arts used pre hidden art, the less souls it uses.

look for enemy weaknesses and type and use things that are strong against it, it will do a lot of damage and apply their status easier, which gives you a soul, which you can use to soul break and totally snowball the fight.

if you use ALL of enemy weaknesses in one combo, then for the rest of the combo you get a chain bonus (the damage will say "chain")
I am not sure what that does exactly, maybe someone can help me out with that.
Does it always apply damage and status as if the enemy is weak against it?

Hidden Artes are basically upgrades of Martial Arts...

Mystic Artes is a special.

Yeah, it depends on the enemy you attack. Say you hit a fiend, then you'll get Jet Blizzard or if you hit a beast enemy, you get Scarlet Edge. Dude, they have "help" on the menu. I suggest you look at that so it can give you better detail on it.

Martial Arte: Basic melee attacks that use your ATTACK stat vs the enemy's DEFENSE stat

Hidden Artes: Powerful artes that use the LOWER of your Attack vs Arte attack stat, and target your enemie's LOWER Defense vs Arte Defense. Better used on characters that have BALANCED stats

Malak Artes: Magical attacks that use your ARTE Attack stat vs enemies ARTE Defense.

Velvet's BreakSoul: With THREE OR MORE Soul gems, hit RT during a combo or standing still to unleash her demonic arm. You SPEND one of your soul gems to enter a state of demonic posession, where you take constant damage but gain more attack power based on how low your HP is. YOU MUST HIT AN ENEMY WITH THE ARM TO ACTIVATE IT. After completing one full combo and spending all your SC, you unleash one final attack that removes your posessed state. You can use RT WHILE Posessed to swipe again with your arm, spending another soul gem but staying in the state longer.

Mystic Artes: VERY powerful finishing attacks that can be unleashed when you have 3 or more BG. I believe they are based off of a combination of ATTACK and ARTE ATTACK.

Another thing with mystic artes, if you do it right the damage from them can skyrocket if the damage you are doing when you activate is something other than flat damage. So if your comboing a target and your doing "chain" damage, activating your mystic arte will keep that "chain" type and deal absurd damage.

what does chain type damage do exactly, for normal arts?
Syfusion Jan 30, 2017 @ 2:43pm
When you see "Chain ###" it means you hit all of the targets weaknesses without them blocking it in your current combo.

After using every weakness on an enemy in a single combo, you unleash a CHAIN combo.

From that point on EVERY SINGLE ATTACK in your combo will have the power of a weakness attack, even attacks that are normally resisted.

I believe this is how it works. I am still experimenting on certain things.

This section of the guide is great to tell you what each category does to your combos.
For example, starting your combo with a Hidden (called Arte in the guide because it was made from the japanese version) gives all of your martial artes a boost on the chances of applying status effects and boosts (stun, burn, attack up and all that).

Also, martial artes usually don't cost much SC, but the spells and hidden artes are usually significantly more demanding, so it's an other way of making you vary what you use.

If for no other reason, you should aim to balance what you use, as the stars on the attacks are fairly fast to raise initially, but demand significantly more uses as it rises, and given how those stars can affect important things (BG at the start of combat, and many titles using this for SC cost reduction or staggering time).

I think the mystic arte damage also scales by the number of break souls that you chained.
