The Game won't even start
When trying to launch the game, it tried to do it's first-time installation. After that, it immediately crashes without even showing the game window.

Deleting the Namco Bandai folder DOES NOT work, since I don't even have it.
Restarting Steam and my PC DOES NOT work either.

I waited for this game and spent my money, yet we come to a really tedious issue of trying to get the game to launch at all.

Just tested it, d3d9.dll came from FAR the NieR:Automata fix. It has a fix for Berseria that I thought it would make the game better but it just breaks it I guess.
That particular d3d9 was made for Neir only. You have to download the "fix" for Berseria for the one that will work with this game.

I have made it to work. Try to hold shift while launching Tales of Berseria.exe from the game folder. I think that have something to do with mircosoft framework and the graphical settings. Then inside the game go to settings and change the interface from full screen mode to windowed mode or windowed full screen mode.

Maybe some of you guys have a hard time believing this, I also did. But this has worked out my problem.

Go to your game folder, and delete "d3d9.dll" if present, helped for me!

Thank you! Just tried this and it worked for me too.

Hello. I was having a problem with tales of berseria not launching. It would say running in steam for a few seconds then stop and not do anything.

I thought at first that it was a compatibility issue. I went into the local folder and changed the compatibility for the app (is you right click on the app you can bring up compatibility options. I used the troubleshooter and completed it or you can just change compatibillity win 7 or something). In doing so I got the following error message

"When trying to run a game, error: The program can't start because XINPUT1_3.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem"

At first I thought this was a problem related to berseria. Then I tried launching a few games in my steam library and found another game with the same issue (not all games had this problem but at least one other did). This made me think it was then probably something not specific to berseria.

I came across the following thread
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-gaming/when-trying-to-run-a-game-error-the-program-cant/e1b7a35e-44dc-4833-8304-76942f5a78b3?auth=1

where they recommended basically re-installing some components of direct x 9 which can be found in this link

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109

I re-installed the components and the problem resolved. Basically if you're having trouble with the game not launching, re-install the above components of direct x.
