I can no longer use a controller whatsoever because of this
I had that problem. I used the keyboard to reset the bindings.
Not that I'm aware of. Just using an Xbone controller.
It's definitely a bit odd that it doesn't warn you about it, but basically if you assign something to a button, you should look for what used it initially and reassign that if you don't want to have weird things like a press doing 2 things at once.
It does happen for keyboard too, someone recently was trying to re-order his team from the menu, but his "confirm" key was rebound to space, so space was the key for both viewing the character's sheet and re-ordering (and because re-ordering requires two steps, it always ended up on the character sheet without changing the order).
I do understand wanting the menu on Y, because the vast majority of games on consoles and PC use that key for it, but if you don't rebind the "attack" key for the first row, you end up with something that doesn't work too well.
