How can i increase military power?
Hi! I have fielded 89 of 96 brigades of Italy. My national stockpile and military spending is 100% and my party is conservative. I have only 79 military power... what's wrong?

How large is your fleet? Fleets are a huge contributor to military score.

Also, which version are you on? I know in Heart of Darkness that the only "Supply Consumption" that matters is the score given by your ruling party's military policy (the more militaristic they are, the more military score you have). This means the only way you can have a massive fluctuation in military score without building or disbanding units is to change ruling parties to someone with a different military policy.

Yes, i'm playing HoD and me fleet is 100/180, more or less. My ruling party dont have +25 supply consumption, i'll try to change. Are tech the only way to have more supply consumption?

I don't think it looks at anything other than the number on the Military page, which is only modified by the party in power. Unlocking inventions that increase your troops' combat power will indeed raise your military power while unlocking inventions that increase your troops' organization won't, even though both of them increase supply consumption.

Also that's a puny navy. No wonder your military power isn't as high as you'd like. :soldier:

Yes, I need to increase my tiny fleet. Thank you for your advice :)
Military score from fleets is only measured from ships of the line, transports and light ships etc are ignored.

Yeah, I have a question here. I am playing as Prussia, yet my military score is only 50. Austria's is ranked lower than me, but has a score of 79. What do I do?

Same here, I see that often, even if I have a bigger army and better military technologies than others countries, I find myself with a lower military score.
It's because of potential, Austria having twice as many manpower might have twice as much soldier pops and they only need to field 25% of their maximum brigades to reach maxium military score.

Your political party's military policy also matters- if you are on pacifist or anti military, your military score will be way lower than if it's pro or jingoism. Usually like 25-40% lower.

Hm, thank you, now some things have a sense... But sometimes the difference is too much XD 2 months ago, I created for my first time Germany, with good army, 3/4 of my max fleet, pro-military party, all my cores (alsaze-lorraine included) plus luxemburg and tirol, freed bohemia from Austria and humiliated France... BUT France and Austria had a better military score than me! How much pop have they? XD

I don't know if it's important, but I don't play vanilla, I use the Pop Demand Mod (Pop Of Darkness version).
Well France and Austria start off with about 9 million manpower each, compared to Prussia with only 3.6 million. I don't know how much a united regular Germany would have but I doubt it's more than 8 million. Prussia historically was a very militaristic society hence why they start off with a bigger military, but if they fail to unite fast enough then they'll get shadowed by their neighbours as it seems you have.

Lembley42 also informed me that Germany is actually very weak in the second half of the game due to a lack of coasts, the later stages are very Navy focused rather than Army focused according to him. This makes sence as on land combat width is continually narrowing, army sizes continually rising and defence increasingly surperior to offence. A lack of coasts means a lack of naval bases and a lack of naval bases means a lack of naval supply limit, which in turn means a lack of ships.

Supply consumption counts for military score too. Raise your military stockpile spending to maximum and put a jingoist or pro-military party in power and your score should go up.
No, supply consumption doesn't count that's a lie. But as has already been said many times your political party's military policy does, which is because it permantly effects how much you can pay your military personnel while the party is in power.

If you just do it the old fashion way and muster up a standing army that's what worked best for me. I mean, your score starts ticking up once you increase your standing army along with your leaders and fleets.
And what exactly do you mean by "increase your standing army"?
