v2.0 Remake thread!
As the v2.0 Remake is now here, I've cleaned up some forum content related to the old version. Please feel free to post any questions, or bugs in here! And of course, I hope you like it!

It may not be perfect, but it's better!

Well, could I request that volume and text speed options be added, then? Plus scrollback?

You can certainly request them!

This game now uses TyranoBuilder as an engine. I'm a little limited by the available features. However in the future, yes I'd like to include these in an update.

I'd like to second the request for volume controls.

One annoyance in the original which seems to have carried over to the remake is, of all things, the wink. You'll have a character wink, then stay in that pose for several speeches. It looks... odd. Very odd. Strong suggestion: only have a wink showing for one speech, then return to a simple smile.

And a silly question: Did you investigate ren'py for the engine?

Thanks for the feedback Chazz.

In regards to Ren'Py, I'm more than familiar with the program. It's a great tool. I don't wish to derail the thread too much, but there are a couple of reasons why I chose Tyranobuilder over it in the end.
Is there a reason that the screen doesn't fit the size of fullscreen? There is a whole inch or so of the screen that is just vacant.

In the scenes in the coding club, between the movie and the appearance, there are a lot of oddly broken sentences -- rather than the whole sentence appearing, about half of it, filling maybe three quarters of one line of the speech area, will appear, and then the rest after the click. Makes the reading a little difficult.

And in the style I am <ahem> renowned for, some wording issues:

After the movie: Ami: "It's so frustrating! I she only cares about Dad..." Maybe "It's like she only cares..."?

"Girl at school can be horrible." Try "Girls".

Lise: "There's also a romanstic sub plot." Apart from the obvious typo, subplot actually is one word in this context.

Ria: "Everyone there is so hung on on competing." Try "hung up on"?

Ria: "And mine is comfortable damnit!" While the jury is still out on the spelling of this word, survey seems to be leaning towards "dammit".

After the game got played. Lise: "Whereas some actually wanted to learn more about code." Previous sentence was talking about events, so "whereas," which links, doesn't belong. Try "Some club members" instead.

Enough for now?

KillerOreo, try using the 'full' button ingame, as opposed to maximising the screen. That said, the game is optimised for 16:9 displays, so you may get some kind of letterboxing if you have a non standard resolution.

Chazz, thanks for the typo pointers. The broken sentences are leftovers from the previous version, I thought I'd caught them all but alas, apprently not.

One other thing I've noticed, that bugs me a little -- and this was in the 1.0 version as well -- is that the text box updates late. Specifically, when you have the pink paw-print transition screen, often the text that was in the text box will still be there when the transition ends; doesn't vanish until a quarter second after the transition. It also sometimes happens when your background changes without the transition frame, but not every time, which is (I know) annoying to try and fix. I will say that it's a lot better in 2.0 than it was in 1.0.

Should I be mentioning broken sentences any more now that you know there are still a few? Haven't found any since Starla appeared, but I'm not much past that point yet...
NewWestGames  [developer] Feb 27, 2016 @ 12:10pm
No need to mention more buddy, I know to look for them :)

In regards to text transitions, it's something I need to play around with. It may be able to be fixed by displaying a blank box with a space before screen transitions, but it'll require some experimentation my side :)

Following the branch where Ami says "Sorry" rather than "Stop" after the pool; at the coding club, there are three small ones.

Lise mentions "the Diamon Doge clan" -- typo.

Starla's line "Can I? Thanks, Ami!" is attributed to Ami.

And in the "I don't really know" branch there's mention of "cargirl ninjas" which creates some rather odd imagery.

Edit: One more. Eiko's first day, afternoon, the speech "Okay, Eiko, got all that?" and the one following are attributed to Eiko.

And a question. After that "afternoon" stretch, the next pink transition panel says "Morning", but we then seem to see the fairgrounds in the evening. Is that the wrong transition? Or are we at Sunday already?

Okay, thanks. That works. There is only one other thing that I see after I used the full button; there doesn't seem to be a way to close the game properly if you use the full button. I had to click it again and then use the close button on the window. Just thought I'd let you know since some people might be a bit more rude in telling you this. I had no problem with doing it the way I did, though.

Two more items, one wording, one... more problematic.

Ami's line at the fair: "Okay, but don't be surprised if I scream, okay?" is attributed to Eiko.

And it looks like save slots 4 and 5 don't work. Several times I tried to save to the two bottom slots, and while the menu closed and I went back to the game, when I went back to my saves those two slots were still empty.
NewWestGames  [developer] Feb 28, 2016 @ 1:07am
That's a new one for me Chazz with the save slots, thanks.

KillerOreo, thanks for letting me know. I'll see if functionality exists for alternate ways to terminate the program.
