I think I know the answer but...this is essentially a single player game right? Multiplayer ability has long since been abandoned?

You can still play multiplayer online. You need a program like LogMein Hamachi to connect to each other. Of course you would have to arrange a game with someone in advance. There's no pool of players to play against.

The online multiplayer wasn't abandoned, it was shut down by Glu Mobile when they bought it out, and they somehow got away with breaking all those contracts...

But we've had great luck playing it online with Game Ranger. Never got Hamachi to work reliably.

you can still play through "lan" either get hamachi or radmin connect with your buddies and invite them to the game

RadminVpn its like hamachi

make account, make server, connect with friends to the server bam done use your radmin ip to connect etc

Radmin is actually much better than Hamachi. Highly recommended.

I never had any problems with Hamachi. It was pretty easy to set up and worked with no problems. But it has been maybe five years since I last used it.
