easy = max health bar to start so you are not in fear of died
It's really stupid, I want to play the game and get the health boosts without dieing in the first area but the earlier games were kinda hardish so it makes sense.
If you die you restart at the last checkpoint, which are here and there and not too far apart. There are some bosses that have the save point much too far away though.
So yeah, if you don't want a challenge and hit a wall, play the game on normal or easy and just enjoy the ride.
Easy mode is extremely easy, you can survive 10+ hits from almost anything, and your health passively regenerates. Normal mode is a very reasonable difficulty for anyone who's played platformer action games before. Hard+ difficulties are a challenge.
