I got the True Ending? Already??
So I just beat the game for the first time, and an achievement popped up saying I got the True Ending. This isn't some shameless humblebrag, I honestly feel like I must have played the game wrong. I didn't realize there were multiple endings to get, so I should have stumbled onto at least one bad ending on accident.

So what are the other endings, and are they worth seeing?

there's only one other ending; it isn't that significant. if you don't upgrade the leaf, after the queen's second form you're Kaho dies and fails her mission

That sounds very arbitrary. Why does that happen?

You get the bad ending if you did not get the green leaf

Yes, I read what they said. But why does it work that way? I could still defeat all three forms if given the chance; it would just take a little longer.

You actually don't get the chance of seeing the third phase, at the time you kill the second phase the queen kills Kaho and you go into the bad ending

Yes. I know. I'm asking WHY not having the Spring Leaf causes you to die after the second phase.

This is just a speculation based on facts on Momodora II (since there doesn't seem to be any mention of it in momo4), the green leaf is said to be able to purify the Queen on the Underworld, which is how you purify the final boss in momo2 and get the true ending, otherwise you kill her and get another ending. So my guess is that the Queen in momo4 is stronger than the queen in momo2, and therefore not even the red leaf is enough to kill her and the green leaf is a must, causing you to do an "impossible battle" and die in the process.

Well on the one hand, I do like when entries in a series have bits of lore continuity sprinkled throughout. It's a sort of reward for long-time fans of the series. But it can be really alienating to newcomers (like myself) when knowing the lore becomes essential to understanding the central plot. Especially to people (like myself) who had no idea going in that this wasn't a standalone game. It ends up feeling like a very incomplete experience.

Now I got this title through a monthly Humble Bundle, so I didn't choose to get this game; it just landed in my lap. I had no expectations going in, and it was a nice enough diversion for a weekend. I can't say I would have been able to take this newfound knowledge in stride if this game had been a conscious purchase on my part. :/

You've made your feelings very clear in multiple threads so far. Once again, I'm extremely sorry for giving you an underwhelming experience. Wish it could have been different.

I didn't make this thread to complain. The conversation just turned that way.

Those were never my words, I only apologized. It is my goal to make experiences players will enjoy.

And I like a lot of the things in this game. The graphics are gorgeous, the sound design is lovely, and it's an overall nostalgic 16-bit/32-bit aesthetic.

My apologies once again - it was my impression that you didn't like this game much based on this thread and others. I'm glad you liked some aspects of it!

I have a bad habit of forgetting that people can't read my mind whenever I make threads on forums to discuss games. My bad. :(

Usually when I dislike a game, I tend to discard it entirely and forget about it. But when I do like a game, that's when I find things to complain about it, because the few bad things always stand in stark contrast to all the good things.

Does that make sense?
