Should I Play the Other Games First?

So this is the fourth installment in the Momodora series, right? I was wondering if I should play the previous three to understand this game. I don't actually know where to get the other games though because I don't know if they're on Steam.

I feel like I heard that this game takes place before the other games/can be played a standalone and still be enjoyed story wise. Is this true?

It's true; still if you want to find the other games, Momo 3 is here on steam and the first two are available on rdein's itch.io page ---> https://rdein.itch.io/

The third game is really cheap on steam and the first two are free online (just look up 'Momodora 1' or 'Momodora 2' and you'll find them). I honestly recommend playing this game first and then play 1, 2, and 3.

All the games play really differently but they all share the same type of themes, but as far as story goes, to me at least only 1 and 2 had a somewhat strong connecting story. As for gameplay the closest to RUTM is 2 since it's also a metroidvania, where as 1 and 3 have straightforward levels, although in 3 you can choose to teleport back to levels but there's only one or two reasons to do so.
I can't really recommend what order to play the games except for playing 1 before 2, just know that the gameplay is much more simple in the earlier titles compared to RUTM.
