Anyone else kinda miss harvesting?
I know it filled the inventory and was needlessly complex, but I kind of liked it. That and the IVG still has the UI for object integrity.

Harvesting made the game too easy, i could have a full base up and running before i even left ark medical, its survival so finding resources should be harder. Not sure how i feel about the new system but so far i find it less clunky.

IDK, I do miss it, but I was alway short on Tin, which in turn made me cannbalize everything that even hinted that it might contain some tin. Now, I am always short on Plastic, ... Plastic=the new Tin?

The only other issue I had was this:

I stepped out of the Cryo Chamber and "Wham! Bam! Thank You Sir! may I have another?" I was then resurrected in another chamber and waited until the tin head went away.

First the starting spawn is at 12pm, so you run for food and water before 8pm. I don't know if they change the invisible robots spawn time, so I don't risk it. I just wait until next morning. So long.. with nothing to do. And then you go further, could only find materials for one power transmitter. Got few ion core and a door from boxes, build a pylon. And wait some more, because it already 8pm, I ran out of plastic :(. I rather harvest, I could create all three benches and a bed plus a solar charger the first night. Now.... sigh :(

I kinda agree with you but at the same time, they could have just simplified the "harvesting" system and then limited the objects you could "harvest". The new system is fine too, but it could use a little adjusting, umm, to let the new player "get a foot in the door"?

I am worried that the developers will get into a US vs THEM (the players) mode and then make the game too difficult for new players. For people like me and you, we already know whats around the corner, so to speak, and can quickly grasp the new crafting rules, but new players will easily get frustrated and disgusted if they happen to die too often in the early game, ... I know it is part of the Genome Enhancement portion of the game, but that mechanic is not explained in the tutorials and many will find it confusing.

Just a thought.

The game was way too easy then. Now it flows much easier. I missed it for about 5 minutes as it was harder at first but the flow of the game is much better. Now you can play instead of harvest and somewhat destroy the graphical fidelity of the map as you go. I think this was a better design choice

You are right about that too, I didn't like the "matchstick" look either after fully cannibalizing an area, although it did let me know that the area was fully searched. I was also surprised at how much was harvestable, paintings, plant pots, decorative wall dividers, sculpture, etc., but it did tend to leave a "harvested" area kind of desolate looking. The animation was cool though, like nanites were devouring the object.

As for the game being "too easy", I got into an argument with a reviewer about the game:
This game is hard. When you die its just rinse and repeat and its so annoying.

(I tend to mark the silly reviews as "not helpful" and once in a while let them know why.)

I didn't find it "too hard", but it was a little bit of a challenge in the begining when I was learning how the game was played, afterward it was pretty easy, as long as you used common sense.

I thought it was pretty neat that the elements derived from the various objects was a relative mixture of what they would have consisted of

They could have just tweaked the harvesting rate.

As for the place looking desolate after youve ripped everything apart that you could get, i feel it added to the sense of desparation that the game gives off. You walk through every room youve been through, nothing left, youve pulled every little bit you possibly could just to try and get by. The rooms are now destroyed and mangled beyond recognition as you walk through sapping everything possible from them.

I hate the RNG system. Now its just a "Welp maybe i get what i need or i go for 5 more minutes and die"
Raven Jun 9, 2018 @ 6:48pm
Also now all i do is run around spamming E on everything with a light. If there is no light i dont care for it. Where as with the harvesting system i was actively going around everything possible to try and gather what was needed. Exploring. Not just walking into a room, no glowing lights, no ♥♥♥♥♥ given, just turn and leave.

too easy is strong word as as person who played both it was about equal(as you can scrap equipment now too and you can get good armor and weapons quite early)

What i miss about recycling it had incentive to explore more and revisit old locations and i think it should be reintroduced in some form but nor something like "scrap everything" but rather "some items can be salvaged easily" a bit similar like pray

maybe something you cant do early on but you need special salvager tool
