I certainly feel a bigger challenge and its great!
I still wonder if any of my ciano tube repairs would carry over if i die, certainly hope so but not a big deal if not.
There is an extremely long thread about this issue elsewhere, and after a lot of discussion, the developers said that they would be adding a non-permadeath mode but it would only come later after the current testing/development. So just wait and see if they do this as promised, and then you should be good.
Stop acting like a spoiled entitled brat. Properly voice why you think the game would be better without permadeath or suggest alternatives like 1) A save system that can only be used sparingly so death could still wipe hours of progress allowing for a good middle ground. 2) A more casual mode like The Forest has. 3) A cloning system that allows you to create a backup version of you but is extremely costly. It would have a mind, soul transfer so it's still you without question not just some dublicate. Investing in cloning would cost a lot of time and resources, but would allow for a few extra lives to negate the risks of explorational hazards.
The developers are at least incorporating the game around permadeath. Do you have any idea how obnoxious it is when a developer just tacts it on? It doesn't add anything to the difficulty since the games that do that are still poorly designed around play to win design. Games design around the notion that you can die, that death has a lasting effect are typically better balanced mechanically than not.
P.A.M.E.L.A. isn't hardcore perma-death.
*Dying* is the only way of *unlocking* some 50-odd passive bonuses to your character.
To over simplify it, you play with a clone. When you die, you continue with a new clone fresh out of cryo without gear or upgrades (I did say over simplify, right?), but what you achieved in the world remains intact and what you left in containers are still waiting for you.
Cryo Cores are used to unlock new spawning points, and to buy you another *life*, but in some quick testing I did after one of the updates it looked as if no matter how many times you die, one spawn point will always remain active, which essentially means there is no perma-death (requires more thorough verification).
I now have containers full of spare gear and consumeables all over the place in anticipation of killing myself after committing mass genocide on the population of Eden to max my Genome tree.
I do wish that I could unlock those passive buffs without dying though...
Everything is persistent it seems. If you die your character dies but the body along with the upgrades stays in the game world available for you to run back to, loot and continue as you would have. It's a minor inconvenience. This also means everything you've salvaged and picked up along the way is persistent. Very interesting way to play.
It's definitely not permadeath. It's more a roguelite in the softest of terms considering all you have to do is just run back to your body and loot it to get everything you had back.
Giving the player the choice how they play the game is a good thing right?
I would think that is reasonable if it isnt too much of a problem for the developer.
But I have died without any cryo core and just had the option to respawn in the same world with everything I did being persistent. Was it just because it was my first time playing that I got a free respawn or did it but out or what? I'm confused with this...
