so yes you can finish the game
you mean there is no ending yet? later in development i assume.
how long does it take to get there though because if its like 100 hours then i dont mind
But you don't need to fire up the rocket and play on as long as you want. Even if you fire the rocket you can say you want to play on, finish research if not done already and optimize your factory.
I'm around 100 hours in the game and still enjoying it, especially in online multiplayer.
*edit*
Ok, found a video in around 2 hours without a cheat, that's really fast. But then again those speedruns are not about enjoying the game.
And I am still hooked. The game is all about making everything work smoothly to me. If I have a copper belt that is running dry, I just HAVE to find the reason and fix it. I have ignored research for hours just because I was on a mission to accomplish something else.
I've read somewhere that the devs are going to add a space platform later or eventually (correct me if I'm wrong). So that will also make me want to restart all over again, and they will add steam achievements also, which I want to try to 100% when that arrives :D There will be mods also some day, they want players who have this game on steam and not on steam to enjoy it all the same so it will be added, so there's another 100 hours plus when I get bored IF I get bored which seems impossible I LOVE THIS GAME :D
Together with that I suggest using the FARL mod to help in building the physical railways in a more comfortable manner. https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=61&t=13553
Then for anyone who played through the vanilla and wants more challenge there are several huge mods that make the game a lot more complex.
Even without mods by the time you get to the end, 0.13 releases could very well be already out with whatever new stuff they've added to the base game.
This is the only EA game I have ever gotten and was not scared to beat it fully before release. There is so much GAME here, that it isn't a disappointment the further you progress.
If the next big update adds a fleshed out endgame, then that is dozens more hours of playtime, and I won't feel that I wasted any of it on an "inferior" version by playing early.
