You can't turn them off. But you can change the settings that they will never attack first - they will only attack when you attack them. That's the setting "Enemies never attack first".

You could remove all aliens in a game using a console command - but that's not suggested, as aliens drop items when killed that you need for researching.

ok thanks
To add onto this, while it is possible to play with no enemies at all, you won't be able to get all the researches that are needed to complete the game (Mainly some that require purple science) with no enemies enabled. Peaceful mode is the best alternative to this as it'll allow you to still get the artifacts needed for the purple science while not having to worry about biters attacking you first.

Removes enemys entirely and replaces them with a ore instead so you can still do end game reaserchs.

Just to be sure, anyone confirm if the Peace Mod works with the current version?
Cougarific Mar 2, 2016 @ 7:25pm
Devs have already said they made sure all mods were updated before the Steam release.
matthewtas Mar 2, 2016 @ 7:30pm
can you use the mod on a pre existing world or do you have to create a new one?
Fate (-{SoH}-) Mar 2, 2016 @ 7:33pm
For all mods you need a new world i believe.

Oh ok, I hadn't seen that. Great to hear! (On another note [And sorry to hijack a bit]... Any idea how to make the "Install with FMM" button on factoriomods.com work?)
Cougarific Mar 2, 2016 @ 8:03pm
I think that's their proprietary mod manager and it's still in development.
Sambony Mar 2, 2016 @ 8:31pm
Actually, after some trial and error I found that the Peace Mod linked earlier HAS gone out of date. Somebody posted later in the forum thread with a fixed version for 0.12.x though. Here's a link to their post https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?p=92300#p92300

Derp sorry, thanks for the linky tho.
