Nuclear bomb radius too small..
I waited and waited and waited to get this nuke researched, even got a box full of materials ready to build it, all these waiting just to find out how small the blast radius is.. hmm, I really want to scream AAAAAAA :steammocking:! this nuke deserves to go on the spider or satellite, and have a radius that is at least 8 times more, and have a way to blast it from map view to anywhere in the map.. I wanted a REALLY GIANT KABOOOM!!! yes, have you even seen those mega nests up in the forests and around, I'll need like 100 of these nukes to kill one, no joke.. and at a cost of 30ea of u-235 - a.k.a endless, nah, not happening.. I am disappointed:steamsad:

They reduced the size when they changed the graphics afaik, it doesn't really bother me. Artillery is the real nest clearing weapon.
Get close enough to target a spawner a blast radius' worth into the interior of the nest. I can usually clear a mega nest with 4 nukes this way and my submachine gun to clear up stragglers.
i have to agree, nukes are useless. i wish they added some sort of bigger vertion of the rocket ones that you need to build a silot or something and shoot from the map just like artillery
i think they need silos like rocket silo but smaller and range 2xartillery. And radius of explosion like 1 2 per nest. maybe they should create a lot of pollution.

Nukes is just for if you're too lazy to use another method or just need to clear a section fast so your other tools can clean up what's left over.

The Nuke, is an ultimate power machine.. no wonder that we want it be BIGGER STRONGER and SUPER DUPER MEGA POWERFUL, and not a micro puke
Nukes are never big enough. Needs to be bigger definitely!
Agreed its such an endgame weapon and its really hard to compare it to artilery, because artilery its basically a nuke but you can just open your map and start pointing finger where you want doom.

While on the other side there is nukes, with petty range compared to artilery, much less useful and its just... so tiny, when you look at that on the research you expect something huge, dangerous, chaotic, something grand and awesome, but when you get to make everything to acquire it you notice just an grenade on steroids but so much fricking hard to make.

Very dissapointing
They struggled A LOT to make it the size it is now without crashing performance into the abyss.

That's the reasen the nukes have the size they have, bigger = worse performance.

True, it would.
But that would probably mess up the look they aimed for.
But if the engine just cannot support an big range explosion why bother adding somenthing that is supossed to be massive? They could just call the nuke an XL Rocket and try an different aproach with nukes. Quite an bummer that this is the reason we cant have an nuke sized explosion within the game.

Maybe they could make nuke an "event" creating weapon, like they could launched trough a little plane or Nuke rocket launcher and obliterate an radius of n chunks. That area becomes totally clean but inaccessible for n days because of the nuke colateral damage, so nuke could be a way to clean the map for future use, so you plan and throw an nuke on a area you want to expand beforehand, wait for the effects of the nuke settle down an go in and expand with relative ease.

Edit: This would also make nuke not only an awesome thing to build but also useful in his own unique way. Accomplishing the thing about being and massive kaboom, being actually somenthing impactful, and not making the nuke look like an explosion but a little more bigger than usual

I can assure you that the Factorio nuke is already pretty big for this type of game.

Why call it a nuke?
Cause that's cool, period.

You want to see a smaller nuke? Look at the C&C games.
I'm sure there are ways to improve this.

You can download Mods for that. Or Script One. The Factorio API is really easy to understand. If you have some Programming knowledge in Lua. :D
